Sr Project Coordinator - Community Health Equity & Wellness
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under guidance of a director or project manager, executes specific stages of project plans specific to community health, equity, diversity, and inclusion, and/or wellness projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with project and evaluation design, monitoring short and long-term project goals, maintaining a project workplan, facilitating project meetings, monitoring and controlling project activities, ensuring all team members have the resources and materials they need, interacting with internal and external customers at all levels, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met, regularly maintaining and filing paperwork, and gathering and reporting metrics.
S/he must have strong interpersonal communication, time management, problem solving, technical and organizational skills to keep projects on track. Strong technical writing skills to prepare project reports, funding proposals, scientific presentations, abstracts, and manuscripts is required. Prior experience assisting with research (i.e., data entry, data collection, data management, basic statistical analysis) a plus.
Ability to work on multiple projects and assist with budgeting details is preferred. Some staff supervision may be required.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you'll make a meaningful impact on community health and wellness by:
- Design & Launch Impactful Programs – Partner with leadership to design, develop, and implement innovative demonstration projects, quality improvement initiatives, and wellness programs that advance health equity and community well-being. You'll also contribute to curriculum design and program strategy that drives real change.
- Drive Project Excellence – Own the execution of project plans from conception through completion. Monitor project timelines, milestones, and deliverables to ensure all initiatives stay on track and exceed stakeholder expectations. Coordinate recruitment and retention efforts while managing evaluation activities that measure program success.
- Build & Support High-Performing Teams – Facilitate collaborative team meetings, ensure all team members have the resources they need to succeed, and provide coordination support that keeps projects moving forward. You may also supervise staff and mentor team members.
- Manage Data & Evaluation – Develop data collection tools, manage databases, conduct analysis, and gather metrics that tell the story of program impact. Your work will inform continuous improvement and demonstrate value to funders and leadership.
- Engage Stakeholders at All Levels – Build strong relationships with internal and external partners, respond to funder inquiries, and communicate project progress to senior leadership. Conduct site visits and maintain regular communication with all stakeholders.
- Create Compelling Documentation – Prepare high-quality project reports, grant proposals, scientific abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations that effectively communicate program goals, budgets, and outcomes to diverse audiences.
- Support Strategic Planning – Assist in developing program goals, objectives, and budgets that align with organizational priorities and funding opportunities.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's Degree required, Master’s preferred, in Public Health, Health Education, Health Administration, Public Administration or a closely related field as well as three (3) years of experience in a health care setting.
- Three to five (3-5) years of experience in community health, equity, diversity, and inclusion, and/or wellness preferred. Project Management Professional certification preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards and behaviors as outlined in the Henry Ford Health Customer Service Policy
- Must practice the customer skills as provided through on-going training and in-services.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal health care environment with possible exposure to communicable disease. Involves periodic travel to community agencies and collaboration with other system worksites. Some weekends and evenings required.
