Job Purpose

Provides specialist-level project engineering leadership for complex product, equipment, and lifecycle initiatives. Applies broad and deep expertise within the applicable engineering discipline and supported product field to define technical scope, integrate multidisciplinary requirements, manage technical risk, and deliver safe, compliant, and commercially practical outcomes.

Operates with substantial independence and is accountable for technical planning, execution, coordination, and delivery across multiple functions. Serves as a senior technical interface among Product Engineering, Manufacturing, R&M, Quality, Supply Chain, Supplier Quality, Operations, clients, and other stakeholders, translating business and operational needs into clear engineering requirements and executable project plans.

Leads resolution of complex, ambiguous, and multidisciplinary engineering challenges involving mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems. Establishes technical direction within delegated authority, influences decisions across organizational boundaries, mentors less-experienced personnel, and leads projects or workstreams with significant technical complexity, stakeholder impact, risk, or resource requirements.

Roles & Responsibilities

SAFETY, SECURITY & COMPLIANCE

· Applies Company Security, Compliance, HSE, Management System, legal, regulatory, and industry requirements to assigned engineering work.

· Incorporates applicable safety, security, environmental, and regulatory requirements into project plans, designs, reviews, and technical recommendations.

· Identifies and communicates technical hazards, recommends proportionate risk controls, and raises concerns when proposed actions could compromise people, assets, customers, communities, or the environment.

· Performs engineering work within demonstrated competency and delegated authority and escalates safety- or compliance-critical matters when additional review or approval is required.

QUALITY

· Applies established engineering quality processes and ensures assigned work complies with the Weatherford Management System, applicable standards, and approved technical requirements.

· Maintains the technical adequacy, traceability, and documentation of assigned engineering decisions, reviews, calculations, dispositions, and recommendations.

· Leads or supports investigations of complex or recurring product, manufacturing, supplier, assembly, and test issues and recommends corrective actions based on verified causes.

· Maintains design intent, configuration control, and approved acceptance criteria when evaluating deviations, nonconformances, repairs, substitutions, or product changes.

· Identifies and implements improvements to drawings, specifications, design practices, review methods, and technical controls within assigned scope.

OPERATIONS

· Serves as a key technical resource for assigned products, projects, or complex matters affecting Manufacturing, R&M, Quality, Supply Chain, suppliers, Operations, and Product Engineering.

· Evaluates and recommends dispositions for nonconformances, deviations, repairs, substitutions, and similar technical matters and approves them when permitted by delegated authority.

· Leads troubleshooting and investigations of complex multidisciplinary issues involving mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, instrumentation, controls, materials, manufacturing, and system integration.

· Develops and recommends technical approaches, analyses, evidence, and acceptance criteria for non-routine problems and obtains additional specialist input when needed.

· Provides technical guidance during significant assembly, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, and delivery activities within assigned scope.

· Provides engineering support for supplier qualifications, first articles, manufacturing deviations, technical audits, capability assessments, and manufacturability reviews.

· Coordinates resolution of recurring product, supplier, manufacturing, and field issues, including implementation and verification of approved design or process changes.

· Prepares, reviews, recommends, or approves changes to drawings, specifications, BOMs, procedures, calculations, test requirements, and product records in accordance with delegated authority and change-control processes.

· Supports product-lifecycle activities involving obsolescence, component or supplier changes, reliability improvement, legacy-equipment updates, field concerns, and sustainment planning.

· Performs or reviews complex engineering analyses, calculations, tolerance evaluations, design reviews, risk assessments, and technical investigations.

· Defines scope, deliverables, interfaces, schedule inputs, resource needs, technical risks, and completion criteria for assigned projects or significant workstreams.

· Coordinates cross-functional and specialist inputs, documents the resulting technical recommendation, and drives assigned actions to timely closure.

· Provides scheduled after-hours or weekend engineering support for urgent Manufacturing, R&M, testing, repair, or delivery matters when required.

FINANCIAL

· Provides technical input to project estimates, resource plans, budgets, make-or-buy decisions, and lifecycle-cost evaluations for assigned work.

Manages assigned engineering work within approved scope and financial constraints and identifies potential variance, resource pressure, or commercial impact.

· Considers cost, schedule, lead time, manufacturability, reliability, and operational impacts when developing technical recommendations without compromising safety, quality, compliance, or design requirements.

· Identifies and implements technically justified opportunities for cost reduction, standardization, reliability improvement, manufacturability, inventory optimization, and lifecycle value within assigned scope.

· Uses Company resources responsibly and supports clear scoping of external technical services and project expenditures.

Experience and Education

REQUIRED

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline, or a related technical discipline, with typically 8+ years of relevant engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience.

· Demonstrated specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in the applicable engineering discipline or supported product field.

· Demonstrated experience independently resolving complex problems involving engineered equipment and integrated systems and leading others through complex technical problem-solving activities.

· Experience supporting manufacturing, assembly, testing, repair, or maintenance of engineered equipment.

PREFERRED

· Experience supporting oilfield, drilling, pressure-control, rotating, hydraulic, or other complex industrial equipment.

· Experience providing Sustaining or Product Engineering support within Manufacturing and/or R&M environments.

· Experience troubleshooting electrical, instrumentation, and control systems in addition to mechanical and hydraulic systems.

· Experience evaluating manufacturing nonconformances, deviations, repairs, and engineering dispositions.

· Experience supporting suppliers, first articles, supplier qualifications, and product changes.

· Experience applying API, ASME, ISO, or similar engineering codes and standards.

· Experience supporting products throughout their lifecycle, including obsolescence, reliability improvement, product changes, and technical documentation.
