Ruby on Rails (ROR) Developer

Why This Role Matters We are looking for an experienced Ruby on Rails Developer to build, scale, and optimize high-performance backend applications. You will play a key role in developing robust APIs, distributed systems, and asynchronous workflows while ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability across business-critical platforms.

What Youll Work On

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Ruby on Rails.
• Build and manage RESTful APIs, including multi-version public and private APIs.
• Develop high-volume asynchronous processing systems using Sidekiq and Redis.
• Optimize database performance, troubleshoot N+1 queries, and manage complex schema migrations.
• Implement distributed messaging workflows using RabbitMQ or Apache Kafka.
• Ensure API contract consistency and payload validation across Web, iOS, Android, and internal BFF clients.
• Work on application performance optimization, scalability, and reliability.
• Write automated tests and maintain high code quality using TDD/BDD practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, architects, and product stakeholders.
• Contribute to architectural improvements, Rails upgrades, and monolith decomposition initiatives.

What You Bring (Must Have)

• Experience: 4-8+ years of production experience in backend software engineering, with a strong focus on Ruby on Rails.
• Ruby & Rails Expertise: Strong command of modern Ruby (3.x) and Rails (6.x/7.x), including metaprogramming, Active Record lifecycle hooks/callbacks, and REST API architectural patterns.
• Concurrency & Background Jobs: Hands-on experience designing and debugging high-volume asynchronous systems using Sidekiq and Redis. o Databases & ORM Optimization: Proficiency in MySQL, PostgreSQL, or AWS Aurora, including N+1 query diagnosis, query optimization, and complex schema migrations.
• Messaging & Event Streaming: Experience with RabbitMQ (AMQP) or Apache Kafka for distributed asynchronous workflows.
• API Design & Versioning: Experience managing multi-version APIs, maintaining contract consistency, and implementing payload validation across multiple consuming clients.

o Engineering Rigor: Strong commitment to TDD/BDD using RSpec, FactoryBot, and mocking libraries. Good understanding of Git, branching strategies, and collaborative development workflows.

Good to Have (Nice to Have)

• Exposure to cloud-native AWS architectures, including ECS/EKS, Aurora, SQS, S3, and CloudFront.
• Experience with Docker and containerized application deployments.
• Domain experience in digital telecommunications, including BSS/OSS, SIM provisioning, MNP, and port-in journeys.
• Experience with high-volume E-Commerce order management platforms.
• Prior experience with large-scale Rails upgrades (Rails 4/5 to Rails 7+). o Experience with monolith decomposition and transitioning towards scalable distributed architectures.
