PURPOSE OF POSITION

We are looking for a quantitatively skilled and analytically driven professional to support the growth of our OTC derivatives business in Brazil. This senior role is ideal for someone with a understanding of the coffee value chain and a passion for leveraging data, quantitative models, and market analysis to shape commercial strategies, support clients' risk management decisions, and collaborate closely with trading and structuring teams. The ideal candidate combines strong quantitative and analytical capabilities with the ability to translate insights into impactful commercial outcomes.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze client exposure to commodities and develop quantitative strategies to support risk management using listed and OTC instruments (e.g., futures, options, and structured products)
  • Build models and tools (in Excel, Python, Power BI, etc.) to assess client portfolios, market dynamics, and potential hedging structures
  • Use market data, fundamentals, and pricing models to generate actionable insights for internal stakeholders and external clients
  • Collaborate with the sales and trading teams to design and validate hedging strategies, integrating analytics into the commercial decision-making process
  • Translate technical and analytical findings into clear recommendations and materials that support client engagement and commercial pitches
  • Contribute to pricing, risk, and profitability analysis for new and existing OTC products
  • Prepare dashboards, presentations, and reports that communicate key market trends, client exposures, and strategy outcomes
  • Participate in client meetings alongside senior sales team members to explain analytical approaches, strategy rationale, and market outlooks
  • Support the broader LATAM team in growing the Coffee desk by embedding a data-driven mindset in commercial activities

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong quantitative mindset with the ability to translate complex data into clear commercial insights
  • Ability to design and implement analytical tools, dashboards, or models that support pricing, hedging, and market exposure analysis
  • Solid understanding of derivatives markets and how financial instruments are used to manage commodity risk
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to align technical findings with client needs and market opportunities
  • Proficiency in tools for data analysis and visualization (e.g., Excel, Python, SQL, Power BI); ability to quickly learn new platforms as needed
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present data-driven recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Team-oriented with a proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving
  • Intellectual curiosity and a strong desire to deepen expertise in energy markets and risk management

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, or Finance
  • 5–8 years of relevant experience in market analysis, quantitative strategy, structuring, or risk management within the energy, commodities, or financial sectors
  • Hands-on experience working with financial derivatives, including futures, options, and structured OTC products
  • Proven track record of applying analytical tools and data-driven approaches to support commercial or strategic decision-making
  • Prior exposure to the oil & gas sector or energy trading environment is strongly preferred
  • Experience building models or tools to analyze commodity pricing, hedge performance, or portfolio risk is a strong plus
  • Fluent in English and Portuguese; Spanish is a plus
