Sr Software Engineer

Barn2Door is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team and help us build next-generation products and services for farmers, leveraging AI to deliver powerful outcomes. You will architect, design, develop, and test solutions while mentoring others and balancing complex technical priorities.

Responsibilities will include:

• Create high-quality, maintainable, and performant code with the assistance of AI tooling, while mentoring team members to do the same
• Advocate for the customer perspective and experience in all technical decisions
• Coach the team through code reviews, testing, and documentation
• Stay current with and adapt to new technologies, tools, methods, and processes
• Optimize our platform for performance, maintainability, ease-of-use, and scalability
• Collaborate with product owners to define the scope of work for upcoming releases
• Build and improve testing tools, frameworks, and methodologies for both small and large scale systems
• Engage in self-driven learning and team problem-solving daily
• Cultivate a broad set of technical and non-technical skills in a startup culture
• Participate in the full product lifecycle, including design, development, code reviews, patent creation, testing, documentation, deployment, and maintenance

You have:

• BS in Computer Science or a comparable degree
• 6+ years of experience in full stack development using an object-oriented language
• 2+ years of experience building responsive UIs with modern JS frameworks (React, Vue, etc.)
• 3+ years leading technical design and implementation of scalable systems
• 3+ years mentoring developers and driving engineering maturity
• 1+ years of experience with AI-assisted development using tools such as Claude Code, OpenCode, GitHub Copilot, or similar
• Hands-on experience integrating AI into customer-facing applications (RAG, MCP, Vector DBs, etc.) is a strong plus
• Experience maintaining and updating large codebases
• A passion for solving complex software engineering challenges in a dynamic environment
• Deep understanding of software design principles, algorithms, data structures, and asynchronous concepts
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience optimizing queries, service architecture, caching, and database sharding
• Experience with performance, security, privacy, accessibility, and localization/globalization testing
• Sound problem resolution, judgment, negotiation, and decision-making skills
• Experience with NodeJs, React, AWS, Terraform
• Bonus experience: Stripe, Redis, Postgres, large-scale data analytics, and failure analysis

Total Compensation

Annual salary DOE plus stock options.
