Sr Software Engineer
Team:
This role is part of the Enterprise Innovation (EI) organization where you will help build the next-generation product and platforms that power LinkedIn’s productivity, collaboration, and data applications. This includes enabling a large portfolio of SaaS systems, ranging from tools like Slack, Figma, Tableau, to member facing systems like Survey Monkey to seamlessly unify with LinkedIn systems. You’ll get to build products and platforms that enable reliable, scalable and AI-first product experiences for LinkedIn employees and members.
You will work on platforms and foundations that establish critical tier 0 or 1 applications, mid-tier services and critical agentic agents and platforms which enable these use-cases within LinkedIn.
We are seeking a highly skilled Sr Engineer to join our Enterprise Innovation (EI) team in designing for the “Future of Work.” You will shape the future of employee productivity through scalable distributed systems, automations, custom products, highly available & reliable systems and intelligent agents that empower employees to work efficiently, and focus on high-impact work. Bring your experience in distributed systems and algorithms, along with a strong systems orientation across concurrency, scalability, performance, caching, queuing, and distributed data storage. You should be excited to work on AI-native development, innovative tools, cutting-edge systems that make an impact at company scale.
Responsibilities:
You will build distributed enterprise applications, make architectural trade-offs, apply synchronous and asynchronous design patterns, write code, and deliver with speediness and quality.
You will develop multi-tier scalable, high-volume performing, and reliable user-centric applications that operate 24x7.
You will produce high quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed, and checked in regularly for continuous integration.
You will provide technical leadership, driving and performing best engineering practices to initiate, plan, and execute large-scale, cross functional, and company-wide critical programs. Identify, leverage, and successfully evangelize opportunities to improve engineering productivity.
You will lead the technical execution of complex features and mid-sized initiatives, breaking down ambiguous requirements into clear, actionable engineering milestones.
You will design component-level architectures and data models that are scalable, fault-tolerant, and easily maintainable by the broader team.
You are expected to raise the bar for code quality and engineering excellence through rigorous code reviews, comprehensive technical design documents, and proactive technical debt reduction.
You will utilize AI tools throughout the SDLC to boost design, coding, and review productivity, and contribute to shared skills and best practices for the overall team
You will work with product managers, program managers and dependent engineering teams to negotiate technical trade-offs, define service boundaries, and ensure on-time delivery.
You will be responsible for operational tasks and on-call support for the applications and systems.
You will learn to balance tactical day-to-day execution with long-term technical debt management and strategic component roadmapping.
Basic Qualifications
BS (or higher, e.g., MS, or PhD) in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical experience.
4+ years of industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications
BS and 5+ years of relevant work experience, MS and 4+ years of relevant work experience
Experience in designing and building infrastructure and web services at large scale.
Expert knowledge of computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design.
Proven coding skills in Python, Java or Go, database design and SQL, and/or knowledge of standard libraries used for building enterprise applications.
Experience building web applications and services, build tools, unit tests, etc.
Experience with relational databases (transactional and non-transactional), database architecture, and distributed transaction management.
Proven track record of mentoring junior engineers and leading small to mid-sized project teams.
Deep expertise in system design, data modeling, concurrency patterns, and performance tuning.
Proven track record of transforming ambiguous business opportunities into autonomous agentic systems capable of long-horizon reasoning and decision-making.
Experience with third party systems like Slack, Jira, Tableau Google Cloud is a plus.
