Sr Software Engineer (Servicenow Developer)
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr Software Engineer (ServiceNow Developer) based in India.
This role is an opportunity to contribute to the development and evolution of enterprise ServiceNow solutions within an IT Service Management environment.
You will design, develop, test, troubleshoot, and deploy enhancements that support critical service management processes.
The position covers core areas including Incident, Problem, Change, Service Catalog, Request, and CMDB.
You will work closely with process owners, stakeholders, and technical teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
The role also offers opportunities to mentor peers, conduct technical reviews, and share ServiceNow expertise across the team.
Success requires strong technical depth, a proactive approach to continuous learning, and excellent communication skills.
This is a remote position aligned with an evening shift in India, offering exposure to a collaborative global technology environment.
Accountabilities
- Design, prototype, develop, test, and deploy ServiceNow enhancements and technical solutions, including Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Pages, UI Actions, UI Policies, ACLs, notifications, and platform APIs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve ServiceNow support tickets while ensuring solutions are reliable, scalable, and aligned with business requirements.
- Work across core ITSM processes such as Incident, Problem, Change, Service Catalog, Request, and CMDB.
- Integrate ServiceNow with external systems and technologies using SSO, SAML, SSL, Web Services, LDAP, JDBC, ODBC, REST, SCP, and FTPS.
- Use update sets to manage and migrate customizations between ServiceNow instances.
- Contribute to the design and maintenance of highly available, recoverable ServiceNow environments.
- Review business and technical requirements to ensure they contain sufficient detail for accurate estimation and effective implementation.
- Collaborate with process owners and stakeholders to understand needs, clarify requirements, and deliver appropriate technical solutions.
- Participate in peer reviews and mentor team members while sharing technical knowledge and ServiceNow best practices.
- Proactively maintain and expand ServiceNow expertise as the platform and related technologies evolve.
- Minimum 5 years of total professional experience, including relevant hands-on experience as a ServiceNow Developer.
- Experience working within an IT Service Management organizational structure and strong understanding of ITIL principles.
- ServiceNow development expertise, with practical experience implementing and customizing enterprise ServiceNow environments.
- Experience across Incident, Problem, Change, Service Catalog, Request, and CMDB processes.
- ServiceNow System Administrator Certification and ServiceNow Certified Application Developer certification.
- Knowledge of web and development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and AngularJS.
- Experience with ServiceNow integrations and technologies including REST, LDAP, JDBC, ODBC, Web Services, SSO, SAML, SSL, SCP, and FTPS.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex issues, assess requirements, work independently, and keep technical knowledge current.
- Willingness to work the 5:00 PM–2:00 AM IST evening shift.
