Sr. Specialist - Talent and Development

Basic Job Functions:

The Sr. Specialist – Talent and Development serves as a senior individual contributor and Subject Matter Expert with primary responsibility for Talent Management programs and processes, including performance management, talent reviews, succession planning, career development, and leadership capability.

This role partners closely with HR leadership, HR Business Partners, and business leaders to ensure talent strategies are business‑ready, enterprise‑aligned, and prepared for what’s next. The Sr. Specialist is expected to partner closely with Learning, maintain strong awareness of learning strategies, offerings, and innovations, and ensure talent and development efforts are intentionally aligned.

Operating with a strong enterprise mindset, the Sr. Specialist applies critical thinking, analytical insight, disciplined execution, and innovation to improve how talent and development are delivered. This role is expected to actively explore and leverage AI, data, technology, and emerging solutions to enhance talent processes, enable better decision‑making, and continuously improve the effectiveness, scalability, and impact of talent and development initiatives.

Education/Experience:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources, Talent Management or a related field

  • Demonstrated experience leading or owning complex, cross‑functional talent initiatives

Preferred

  • PHR, SHRM‑CP, CPTD, or equivalent professional certification

  • Experience supporting a global and/or manufacturing organization

  • Experience leveraging analytics, systems, and technology to improve talent outcomes

  • Demonstrated experience influencing leaders and driving change without direct authority

  • Functional Knowledge and Expertise (Talent Management): Advanced expertise in Talent Management disciplines, including performance management, talent reviews, succession planning, career development, and leadership assessment and development.

  • Business Partnership: Ability to partner with leaders and HR Business Partners to align talent strategies with enterprise priorities and business outcomes

  • Analytical Aptitude: Uses talent data, dashboards, and assessments to identify trends, risks, and opportunities and inform decision‑making

  • Execution: Owns and drives complex talent initiatives end‑to‑end with accountability for outcomes

  • Influencing Skills: Builds credibility and alignment across stakeholders without direct authority

  • Business Readiness: Ensures talent and development solutions prepare leaders and the organization for current and future business needs

  • Enterprise / Lateral Agility: Prioritizes enterprise outcomes over functional preferences and connects work across the organization

  • Innovation and Creativity: Actively seeks new, more effective ways to deliver talent and development outcomes; challenges traditional approaches and drives improvement

  • AI and Technology Enablement: Demonstrated ability to leverage AI, analytics, and digital tools to enhance talent processes, insights, and development strategies

Additional competencies:

  • Strong written, verbal, and executive‑level communication skills

  • High attention to detail with consistent follow‑through and accountability

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel – advanced, PowerPoint), Teams, PowerBi, Word and Talent/Learning systems (LMS or HRIS, analytics tools)

  • Comfort operating in an evolving, fast‑paced environment

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assess, design, and evolve Talent Management strategies, frameworks, and programs to support enterprise priorities, workforce readiness, and long-term organizational capability.

  • Serve as a consultant to HR leadership, HR Business Partners, and business leaders, providing recommendations, challenge, and insight related to talent strategy, organizational capability, leadership pipeline health, and succession risk.

  • Collaborate with Talent Manager to evaluate organizational capability, leadership pipeline strength, and talent readiness to identify risks and opportunities and recommend actions that strengthen enterprise performance.

  • Establish and maintain governance, standards, and practices for Talent Management processes to ensure consistency, scalability, compliance, and enterprise alignment.

  • Partner with Learning colleagues to ensure talent outcomes are supported by aligned learning strategies, programs, and offerings

  • Stay current on emerging workforce, leadership, and capability trends and proactively recommend solutions that prepare the organization for future business needs.

  • Maintain awareness of learning priorities, innovations, and emerging practices to inform talent strategy and recommendations

  • Apply analytical insight to translate talent data into recommendations that inform leadership decisions

  • Drive execution of complex talent initiatives with a focus on quality, scalability, and sustainability

  • Lead process, system, and technology enhancements related to Talent Management, including automation and improved reporting

  • Research industry trends and benchmark best practices in Talent Management, incorporating relevant learning insights as appropriate

  • Serve as a versatile Talent and Development resource, contributing across Talent Management, Learning, leadership development, facilitation, and change initiatives as business priorities evolve.

  • This position will not have direct reports

Travel:

  • 10% - 20%
