About the Role
Mobiloitte is looking for an experienced Senior Symfony Developer with strong expertise in PHP, Symfony, and MySQL to work with one of our US-based clients.
The ideal candidate will be a technically strong individual contributor who can take ownership of complex backend systems, contribute to architectural decisions, improve application performance, and build scalable, reliable, and maintainable solutions.
We are looking for someone who goes beyond writing code and can actively participate in system design, technical problem-solving, infrastructure decisions, and engineering best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using PHP and Symfony.
- Lead backend architecture discussions and contribute to system design and technical decisions.
- Design, optimize, and manage complex MySQL databases, including query optimization and performance tuning.
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate third-party services.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve application scalability and reliability.
- Work with NoSQL databases and evaluate appropriate data storage solutions.
- Contribute to AWS infrastructure design, deployment, and optimization.
- Collaborate with frontend developers, DevOps engineers, architects, and cross-functional teams.
- Conduct code reviews, establish coding standards, and promote engineering best practices.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive root-cause analysis.
- Mentor developers and provide technical guidance where required.
Required Technical Skills
- 10+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong hands-on expertise in PHP and Symfony Framework.
- Extensive experience with MySQL, database architecture, indexing, and query optimization.
- Strong understanding of backend architecture, system design, and scalable application development.
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Strong understanding of OOP, SOLID principles, design patterns, and clean code practices.
- Experience with Git, debugging, performance optimization, and production troubleshooting.
- Ability to independently handle complex technical challenges and make sound engineering decisions.
Good to Have
- Hands-on experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Redis, or similar technologies.
- Exposure to AWS infrastructure and services such as EC2, S3, RDS, SQS, Lambda, and CloudWatch.
- Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-based deployments.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Experience with high-traffic applications and large-scale backend platforms.
- Exposure to infrastructure optimization, monitoring, and cloud cost management.
