Sr. Systems Engineer – Audio Amplifiers, PC (JM-64000667)
Summary
Senior Systems Engineer defining next-generation audio amplifier ICs for Cirrus Logic's PC and consumer products. Translates tier-1 customer needs into system specs for mixed-signal designs (Class D amplifiers, ADCs/DACs, DSP), reviews verification plans, and evaluates chips in the lab. Based in Austin, TX (hybrid).
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with tier 1 customers and internal engineering teams to define system and performance requirements, feature set, and architecture definition for complex IC designs which may be composed of integrated sub-blocks such as ADCs, DACs, Class D amplifiers, general-purpose sensor monitors, Digital Signal Processing (DSP), analog and digital filtering, clocking, analog and digital interfaces, and inter-device communications.
- Gather and consider product requirements such as customer requirements, system-level components and signals that interface with the IC, digital/analog process technologies, packaging options, design/system constraints and trade-offs and propose viable solutions as a part of the IC specifications and functionality.
- Communicate ideas and specifications to internal and external technical audiences.
- Author and present IC and system level use cases to the cross-functional silicon development team.
- Generate and author systems requirements and specifications to be used by design, emulation, and test teams.
- Review verification and validation test plans.
- Participate in architecture reviews, IC-level design reviews and board-level design reviews with design engineering, applications, validation and product test engineers.
- Evaluate the ICs in the lab alongside the bring-up, applications, and test teams.
- Perform thorough competitive analysis including lab investigations.
- Participate in industry conferences and forums to ensure device compatibility with adopted standards.
- Travel domestically and internationally approximately 2–5 weeks per year to work with customers.
- Autonomously manage contending customer- and project-related priorities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of experience in applications engineering or product definition supporting low/mid power audio amplifiers, Class D amplifiers, or mixed-signal integrated circuits for audio processing in portable electronic products such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, desktop PCs, pro audio, audio accessories (e.g., headphones), etc.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- MS in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of experience.
