Position Summary:
The Sr Systems Engineer, Commercial Training provides technical, engineering, and training support for commercial applications. They provide training primarily to mechanical engineers, Taco manufacturer representatives, Taco sales personnel and mechanical contractors on commercial system application and design, commercial hydronics fundamentals and advanced commercial system design. They perform complex activities to support the design and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices or systems. They also provide instruction on how customers can develop design specifications. The Sr Systems Engineer, Commercial Training provides coaching and mentoring to other team members and provides high-level field technical support and diagnostics.
Measures of success:
- Develop and conduct target number of factory training programs for engineers
- Develop and conduct target number Taco Tuesday webinars
- Develop and conduct target number of Lunch ‘n Learn programs
- Develop and conduct target number of annual rep training programs
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provides training on commercial mechanical systems and commercial products including but not limited to pumps, heat exchangers, variable speed drives, self-sensing pumps and plumbing systems
- Develops engineering curriculum for both classroom training and E-Learning courses
- Provides mechanical systems engineering and design assistance for building systems including HVAC systems, plumbing systems, control systems and energy analysis
- Meets with customers and provides an explanation of mechanical systems and Taco components
- Guides customers through the decision-making process for selecting mechanical systems for their buildings
- Provides high-level field technical support and diagnostics for Taco commercial products
- Serves as a coach and mentor to other team members
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 10+ years of mechanical design and engineering experience in an HVAC or related field
- 5+ years of experience in delivering technical presentations to groups
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools with advanced capability in PowerPoint
- Self-starter that can work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent verbal, written, public presentation and teaching skills
- Travel: Minimum 50% of time to customer sites, trade shows, North American company locations, etc.
Preferred:
- Professional Engineer Certification
Work Environment
This position works primarily in a home and/or office environment using computers and technology. Verbal and auditory capability are required. Occasional exposure in production plant where large equipment and noise are prevalent. Safety gear is required in these areas.
This position may work from home if performance is in good standing. Will be required to report in for meetings, conferences, etc.
This position has no direct reports.
