Sr Technical Architect
Johnson Controls is seeking a Sr Enterprise Integration Architect to support the Enterprise Integration (EI) Architecture team on enterprise-wide initiatives and ensure project architectures align with the EI strategy as the business continues to modernize application and integration platforms.
Role Overview
In this role, you will work across multiple projects and landscapes to design integration solutions, support API-led reuse, review technical architecture, and help guide upgrades, migrations, and monitoring approaches across the enterprise integration environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design integration solutions and support estimating implementation costs for EI projects.
- Support the EI Architecture team’s API-led design methodology to enable reuse of APIs across the landscape.
- Participate in integration strategy for existing and new application landscapes as Johnson Controls moves to new cloud platforms or applications.
- Review and approve project integration technical architecture.
- Support the monitoring strategy for the integration platforms.
- Actively contribute to continuous improvements related to architecture for the integration platforms.
- Support the EI platform management team to plan and implement upgrades and migrations of current platforms in line with the technology roadmap.
- Communicate with the EI Architecture team to keep them informed of project architecture activities and seek consultation as needed.
- Provide technical and industry-specific subject matter expertise to support requirements gathering, solution design, and technical oversight.
- Create and maintain project plans and supporting documentation required to successfully execute internal EI projects, including schedules, technical approaches, invoicing schedules, and risk management plans.
- Provide administrative and technical direction to external resources.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or a similar technology-related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of IT experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience architecting integration solutions using APIs.
- Minimum 5 years of development experience on integration platforms.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence technical and business stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Deep experience in integration and API architecture, with a thorough understanding of industry trends, vendors, frameworks, and practices.
- Experience providing technical leadership to onshore and offshore developer team members.
- Understanding of Agile delivery principles and quality software engineering processes and practices.
- Understanding of DevOps and CI/CD.
- Understanding of cloud concepts including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and iPaaS.
- Experience architecting and implementing integration solutions using APIs and web services, SFTP, and EDI solutions.
- Experience with Azure Integration Services Platform, including APIM, Logic Apps, ESB, AppInsights, and Observability.
- Understanding of infrastructure concepts such as networking, VPC, VPN, and load balancers.
- Understanding of security concepts such as identity management, authentication, authorization, and encryption.
- Experience with either RAML or OAS (Swagger).
Nice to Have
- Experience with MuleSoft or similar enterprise integration platforms.
- Any Integration Architecture certifications.
