Sr. Telecommunications Network Engineer

Summary

Serves as the technical lead for telecommunications engineering on government programs — evaluating network configurations, developing requirements and acquisition artifacts (PWSs, IGCEs), and planning service transitions and cutovers. Core technologies: MPLS, Ethernet, optical transport, VPN, VoIP; remote role with occasional travel to Scott AFB, IL.

Serve as the technical lead for telecommunications engineering, network analysis, customer requirements development, transition planning, and technical acquisition support. Provide engineering expertise to ensure successful transitions, technical feasibility, and modernization of telecommunications services.

Occasional Travel may be required to Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate existing telecommunications and network service configurations.
  • Develop and document customer technical requirements and network performance requirements.
  • Support development of customer PWSs, bid models, technical evaluation plans, IGCEs, and related acquisition artifacts.
  • Analyze transition strategies and recommend technical solutions and alternatives.
  • Support Fair Opportunity competitions and customer network transition planning.
  • Coordinate with Government personnel, vendors, and customers to resolve technical issues.
  • Support cutover planning, implementation activities, and transition troubleshooting.
  • Provide recommendations on emerging technologies and telecommunications modernization opportunities.
  • Enterprise telecommunications and network engineering expertise.
  • Experience with MPLS, Ethernet, Optical Transport, VPN, VoIP, and managed network services.
  • Strong technical documentation and requirements development skills.
  • Ability to perform technical feasibility analyses and solution evaluations.
  • Experience supporting telecommunications transitions, service provisioning, and network migrations.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and technical communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC)

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of telecommunications or network engineering experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Current Tier 1 (T1/NACI) eligibility or ability to obtain required access.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting DoD, DISA, DITCO, EIS, NETWORX, CVS, or large-scale telecommunications transition programs.
  • Experience developing network-focused PWSs and acquisition documentation.
  • Knowledge of voice services, wireless services, satellite services, and enterprise networking technologies.
  • CCNP, CCIE, MEF, ITIL, or equivalent industry certification preferred.
