Sr Web Engineer

Hello! We're Cashea πŸ‘‹, and we're on a mission to give Venezuelans back the opportunity to access credit through a BNPL business model. Since our launch in 2022, we've been dedicated to promoting financial inclusion. Today we have more than 9 million active users, both consumers and merchants, and we've become a trusted brand in Venezuela, winning hearts and minds πŸ’›.

About the role

We're looking for a Senior Web Engineer who owns the surfaces our users and merchants actually touch. The web is where real money moves at Cashea β€” merchant onboarding, web flows, dashboards, internal tooling β€” so "it works on my machine" isn't the bar. Fast, reliable, and maintainable in production is.

You'll partner with Product and Backend from the moment a requirement is formed, turn ambiguous problems into clean React architectures, and set the standard for how the front end gets built. You won't just ship features β€” you'll decide how the team ships them: the component libraries, the testing strategy, the performance budget, the docs everyone else relies on.

If you care about Core Web Vitals the way other people care about their morning coffee, and you'd rather delete code than add it, this one's for you. πŸš€

Overall you will...
  • Build across the feature lifecycle: Work alongside Product and Backend from requirements through production, not just at handoff.

  • Turn complexity into clean React: Break down ambiguous, complex requirements into maintainable, scalable React solutions.

  • Own front-end architecture: Design scalable architectures for complex web features and the shared component libraries the rest of the team builds on.

  • Set the technical bar: Lead code reviews and technical decisions with a bias toward simplicity, and establish the testing and monitoring strategies that keep us safe in production.

  • Raise the documentation standard: Create technical documentation and define the standards others follow.

  • Obsess over performance: Optimize Core Web Vitals, bundle size, and load times so the experience stays fast on the devices and networks our users actually have.

  • Mentor: Level up the team on problem-solving and modern web development.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of React in production, with real, published web applications behind you.

  • 1+ year leading or mentoring other developers.

  • Proven experience refactoring complex features into clean, maintainable solutions.

  • Built and maintained shared component libraries.

  • Strong TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.

  • Solid experience with state management (Redux, Context API, or similar).

  • Established testing strategies (Jest, React Testing Library) as part of how you ship.

  • Track record optimizing web performance and cross-browser compatibility.

  • Spanish and English proficiency.

Desirable skills
  • Experience setting up monitoring and analytics for web applications.

  • Familiarity with SSR/meta-frameworks (Next.js) and modern build tooling.

  • Experience contributing to or owning a design system at scale.

  • Background in fintech, payments, or other high-stakes consumer products.
