Staff Accountant

JOB SUMMARY:

An industry leader in premium Black Angus beef seeks a motivated individual looking for an opportunity to put his or her accounting experience to use in a fast-paced environment. This position is responsible for processing cattle payments, daily USDA market reporting, freight payable processing and general accounts payable processing. This position is 8 -5p.m. sometimes after 5 p.m. is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Monitor daily cash transactions and approve transfers
2. Process weekly operations expense journal entries
3. Compile weekly expense vs. budget report for department managers
4. Analyze and process credit card receipt transactions
5. Complete and evaluate monthly bank account and balance sheet reconciliations
6. Complete weekly CAPEX spending analysis
7. Maintain fixed asset subledger and all fixed asset transactions
8. Serve as backup for other accounting positions
9. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1. Associates degree required or equivalent experience, bachelor’s preferred.
2. Minimum of two (2) years progressively responsible basic accounting experience.
3. Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information while meeting stringent deadlines.
4. Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.

3. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

4. Strong computer skills (MS Word and Excel)
