Part-Time Staff Accountant

Location: Houston, TX - Hybrid Schedule
Contract Type: Part-Time
Hours: Approximately 20–25 hours per week
Pay: $35–$45/hour, based on experience

About the Role

Avatar Managed Services is seeking an experienced Part-Time Staff Accountant to support our growing finance and accounting operations.

This is a hands-on role working directly with the Controller and supporting general ledger accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, AP/AR, billing, and financial reporting. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close.
• Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and cash application.
• Review general ledger activity and research discrepancies.
• Maintain accounting schedules and supporting documentation.
• Assist with monthly financial reporting and variance analysis.
• Process and research transactions in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• Help improve accounting processes, controls, and documentation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on accounting experience.
• Strong general ledger and reconciliation experience.
• Experience with AP, AR, journal entries, and month-end close.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience highly preferred.
• Technology, MSP, SaaS, or professional-services accounting experience is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.

Compensation & Schedule

$35–$45 per hour | Hybrid Schedule | CPA not required.

Approximately 20–25 hours per week, with flexibility based on accounting deliverables and month-end requirements.
