Description

Job Purpose:

Navitas Semiconductor (Nasdaq: NVTS) is a next-generation power semiconductor leader driving innovation in gallium nitride (GaN) and high-voltage silicon carbide (SiC) technologies. Our products enable faster, more efficient power delivery across AI data centers, high-performance computing, energy and grid infrastructure, and industrial electrification.

With more than 30 years of combined expertise in wide bandgap technologies, GaNFast™ power ICs integrate GaN power, drive, control, sensing, and protection, delivering faster power delivery, higher system density, and greater efficiency. GeneSiC™ high-voltage SiC devices leverage patented trench-assisted planar technology to provide industry-leading voltage capability, efficiency, and reliability for medium-voltage grid and infrastructure applications.

We are seeking an Applications Engineer - Integrated Voltage Regulators to join the IVR Business Unit and own the system-level performance of integrated voltage regulators from the lab bench through customer board evaluation. The role develops evaluation platforms and reference designs, validates IVR performance under customer-representative conditions, creates application collateral and customer model kits, supports design-in and bring-up, and converts customer requirements and field learning into product-definition and roadmap input. Our IVRs combine power transistors, digital control, inductors, and capacitors to enable Vertical Power Delivery (VPD) and Embedded Power Delivery (EPD) for AI accelerators, GPUs, CPUs, and custom ASICs.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop and execute system-level test plans for single- and multi-IVR power delivery under customer-representative conditions, including load transients, current sharing, power-delivery-network impedance, sequencing, protection, and fault response.
  • Build processor load-emulation platforms, dynamic load boards, and test vehicles that demonstrate IVR performance before customer silicon is available.
  • Benchmark IVRs against competing power-delivery solutions to identify product differentiation, performance gaps, and improvement opportunities.
  • Use and extend the team’s shared automation framework to deliver repeatable system-level measurements and data analysis.
  • Perform board- and package-level PDN and power-integrity analysis, including DC drop, AC impedance, parasitic, decoupling, and transient droop.
  • Build circuit- and system-level IVR models, including control-loop stability and interactions among parallel regulators, and correlate simulation results with lab measurements.
  • Assess thermal and mechanical integration with processor cooling solutions in collaboration with thermal specialists.
  • Define, design, bring up, and validate evaluation boards and reference designs, working with internal and external PCB designers from schematic and layout requirements through system validation.
  • Deliver complete design packages, including schematics, layout guidelines, bills of materials, test procedures, measured results, and configuration of GUIs or scripts.
  • Develop scalable multi-IVR demonstration platforms for high-current processor applications.
  • Lead customer evaluations and design-ins with xPU vendors, hyperscalers, and ODMs by reviewing architectures, schematics, layouts, package and board stack-ups, identifying risks, and supporting bring-up and debug.
  • Collaborate with OSATs, substrate suppliers, and embedded-component PCB fabricators to enable IVR integration in vertical and embedded power-delivery designs.
  • Author application notes, design and layout guides, datasheet application content, design calculators, and customer model kits covering circuit simulation, PDN, and thermal behavior.
  • Present customer technical reviews, train sales and field teams, position IVR technology within the grid-to-xPU power chain and translate customer requirements and field learning into product-definition and roadmap input.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics (KSAO’s)

  • Deep knowledge of DC-DC conversion, particularly synchronous and multiphase buck regulators and high-current point-of-load power delivery.
  • Ability to analyze control-loop stability, transient response, efficiency, current sharing, sequencing, protection, and fault behavior.
  • Hands-on proficiency with oscilloscopes, current probes, electronic loads, power analyzers, and network analyzers for loop-gain and impedance measurements in low-voltage, high-current systems.
  • Ability to correlate circuit, PDN, thermal, and system simulations with laboratory measurements.
  • Strong understanding of PDN and power-integrity fundamentals, including parasitic, decoupling, high-current distribution, package interactions, and board stack-up effects.
  • Ability to define schematics, review/perform PCB layouts, and bring up and debug complex power hardware.
  • Proficiency in Python-based lab automation and data analysis, with working knowledge of version control such as Git.
  • Clear technical writing skills for application notes, design guides, datasheet content, test reports, and customer-facing documentation.
  • Confident customer communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work across engineering, sales, field, packaging, substrate, PCB, and product teams.
  • Self-motivated, hands-on working style with sound technical judgment and the ability to execute effectively in a fast-growing, collaborative environment.
