You will set technical strategy for onboard navigation and pose estimation. You will develop sensor-fusion and odometry approaches, define evaluation methods and navigation metrics, resolve complex localization problems, and optimize sensor performance, calibration, settings, and uncertainty characterization.
Responsibilities
- Set the technical strategy and architecture for onboard navigation and pose estimation
- Lead sensor-fusion and pose-estimation design across IMU, camera, and lidar sensors
- Drive visual and lidar odometry algorithm direction
- Evaluate build-versus-adopt tradeoffs for new techniques
- Define and promote navigation metrics and evaluation methodology
- Resolve complex and cross-cutting localization problems
- Evaluate sensor performance and optimize sensor selection
- Verify sensor calibration, settings, and uncertainty characterization
Requirements
- Academic or industry experience building navigation, localization, and odometry systems
- C++ expertise
- Software engineering experience building high-reliability deployed applications
- Experience transforming GNSS, IMU, wheel-speed, and other sensor data into 6-DOF pose
- Experience with Kalman filtering, factor graphs, or comparable state-estimation techniques
- Experience with computer vision, visual odometry, or point-cloud odometry
- Experience mentoring engineers and improving technical practices
- Experience writing design documentation
