Staff Backend Engineer - Node/Typescript

What's the role about?

As a Founding Staff Backend Engineer, you will own the design, development, and maintenance of the core backend platform powering a real-time 3D commerce environment. Your work will play a key role in defining the company’s technical architecture from the ground up.

Working in a fast-paced, stealth startup with minimal technical debt, you will lead end-to-end system design across APIs, automated pipelines, workflow engines, search infrastructure, and queuing systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable, high-performance solutions. You will also support light MLOps initiatives, helping integrate the backend with advanced computer vision and AI technologies.

What do we require from you?

• +5 years of experience as a software engineer working on backend systems.
• Strong knowledge of backend development using TypeScript (Node.js).
• Deep expertise with relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL.
• Experience managing AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Pulumi, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
• Mastery of technical design, including system architecture, interface/API design, and data/object modeling.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and test suites from scratch.
• Exposure to integrating backend systems with AI/ML models, or a strong willingness to handle light MLOps tasks within a CV+AI environment.
• Solid understanding of complex backend components like queuing systems, nightly data jobs, workflow engines, and search indices.
• Ability to drive technical discussions, take ownership of the architecture, and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
