Staff Business Data Analyst – Network Headcount/Resource Planning (Consumer Group)
Summary
Leads data-driven headcount and capacity planning for Intuit’s TurboTax/TurboTax Live tax operations, defining KPIs, AI/BI tools, and frameworks to balance customer experience, employee experience, and cost efficiency.
Intuit is the global financial technology platform that powers prosperity for the people and communities we serve. With approximately 100 million customers worldwide using products such as TurboTax, Credit Karma, QuickBooks, and Mailchimp, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to prosper. We never stop working to find new, innovative ways to make that possible.
The Senior Staff Business Data Analyst on Intuit's Modern Ops Expert Planning team plays a critical role in shaping how we deliver world-class customer experiences at scale. This role leads the development and standardization of optimized network plans across Intuit's Consumer Group (CG) operations — the TurboTax and TurboTax Live tax business, setting the analytical foundation that balances customer experience, employee experience, and cost efficiency. It drives cross-functional alignment on capacity planning assumptions, defines the KPI frameworks and success criteria that anchor strategic decisions for new product and channel rollouts, and ensures operational readiness through rigorous analysis, forecasting, and process standardization. Operating at the intersection of data, delivery, and strategy, this role partners closely with and influences Director+ stakeholders across Product, Service Delivery, Partner Management, Talent Acquisition, and Finance, and actively mentors junior analysts to raise the bar on team capability.
Responsibilities
- Define and own optimized headcount, hiring, and capacity planning frameworks for large-scale, highly complex planning at the IG level, balancing service levels, employee experience, and cost outcomes across Consumer Group (TurboTax / TurboTax Live) tax operations — serving as a thought partner to Director+ business leaders on how best to harness available data in support of critical planning needs
- Influence the creation of a BU-level analytics/planning standard — a new capability or framework that is widely adopted — and develop KPI frameworks and success criteria that set direction at the IG level in service of VP-level goals, standardizing metrics, reporting, and decision-making infrastructure across the organization
- Lead capacity risk identification and mitigation across multiple concurrent initiatives, proactively surfacing roadblocks, managing cross-functional dependencies, and influencing through others to drive progress on initiatives not under direct control
- Partner with and influence internal technology teams to implement new planning tools, data enhancements, and automation capabilities — building solutions that other BU teams can adopt, and integrating and evangelizing new, industry-leading technologies and vendors
- Lead the creation of custom AI/GenAI and BI implementations, in partnership with the AI team, to solve BU-level planning outcomes and generate compelling, decision-ready insights
- Lead operational impact assessments for consumer tax product, skill, and channel launches; own the end-to-end vision for scaling these solutions (with a clear view of pros, cons, and tradeoffs), integrate new initiatives into long-term capacity plans, and present findings to senior stakeholders for sign-off
- Build and maintain E2E resource and delivery plans in collaboration with cross-functional teams across Demand Planning, Topology, Service Delivery, Partner Management, Talent Acquisition, and Finance; align staffing strategies — grounded in historical trend analysis and forward-looking demand forecasts — with Intuit's broader strategic ambitions
- Lead process and reporting standardization efforts across the BU; document the end-to-end vision for scaling solutions and drive adoption across teams
- Break down complex, ambiguous planning problems into testable MVPs, take calculated risks, and help the team navigate change — comfortable diving into any capability or technology outside your immediate domain while delegating and staying hands-on enough to maintain deep end-to-end understanding
- Scale through delegation and coach across teams regardless of org chart — developing analytical capability and ensuring the org has the right skills, mindset, and diversity to deliver the strategy and roadmap; represent the team in internal and external forums and encourage others to do the same
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in capacity planning, workforce management, or labor modeling, with demonstrated ownership of complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives at scale
- 4+ years of program or project management experience, including leading cross-functional and cross-team delivery in ambiguous environments
- Expert proficiency with SQL and advanced analytics tooling; working knowledge of big data platforms (e.g., Redshift, Spark) and BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik); track record of integrating and evangelizing new, industry-leading data/AI technologies
- Demonstrated ability to define KPI frameworks that set direction at the IG/BU level, model complex capacity scenarios, and translate findings into clear recommendations for Director+ and senior leaders
- Strong storytelling and communication skills, with proven ability to influence through others and drive alignment across competing priorities and stakeholder groups — including on initiatives outside direct control
- Track record of building scalable analytical frameworks, tools, or standards adopted across multiple teams or at the BU level
- Experience developing other analysts and building team/org capability, including coaching across teams regardless of org chart
