Staff Data Engineer, Mission Data Platform - Clearance Required
Overview
LMI is building a secure mission data platform for the U.S. Army. We are seeking a Staff Data Engineer to own the design and delivery of the data pipelines and data products that power it.
This is a senior individual-contributor role for an engineer who can make architectural decisions, build production systems, and raise the technical standard of the broader team.

Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and implementation of scalable data pipelines and data products.
- Integrate data from distributed repositories, applications, and enterprise systems.
- Design for data quality, lineage, security, observability, and long-term maintainability.
- Establish engineering standards for testing, source control, deployment, and operations.
- Work across platform, security, software, and mission teams to deliver production capability.
- Review technical designs, mentor engineers, and resolve complex integration challenges.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Eight or more years of experience building production data systems.
- Strong proficiency with Python, SQL, and modern data-engineering patterns.
- Experience designing data pipelines and services in cloud or distributed environments.
- Strong software-engineering fundamentals, including testing, source control, CI/CD, and operational monitoring.
- Demonstrated technical leadership and ownership of complex data capabilities.
- Experience supporting a Department of Defense customer.
- Active Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting the U.S. Army.
- Experience with AWS or another large-scale cloud platform.
- Familiarity with Palantir Foundry, Army Vantage, or comparable data platforms.
- Experience integrating enterprise content repositories and legacy systems.
- Familiarity with distributed processing, infrastructure as code, and DevSecOps.
Target salary range: $101,000 - 174,000
