Staff Data Engineering Architect

Lead advanced data engineering with Capital One Canada in Toronto, using technical design, architecture, and hands-on development skills. This hybrid role includes three office days weekly. As a Staff Engineer, you will own technical design and development for cross-functional, multi-platform, fault-tolerant application systems. You will guide engineering standards, contribute to high-level design, and improve developer experience. The work spans application development, data design, modelling, architecture, and cloud platforms. Key Responsibilities:

Own technical design and development for application systems Contribute to high-level design and architecture decisions Establish engineering practices, standards, and code review expectations Improve internal frameworks, tools, and developer experience Mentor junior and intermediate associates through engineering practices Requirements:

At least six years of hands-on development experience At least six years in application development or data architecture Experience with AWS or other cloud providers Experience mentoring associates and guiding technical stakeholders Java, Python, Go, or object-oriented programming experience preferred Apply technical leadership, cloud expertise, and architecture skills as a Staff Engineer shaping Capital One Canada’s engineering standards.
