As Staff Data Platform Engineer at Yoto, you will own the architecture and long-term health of the data platform that powers insights across the business. You will set the technical direction, raise the engineering bar, and scale the platform as Yoto grows. You’ll collaborate with data science, analytics, product and software engineering to deliver platform capabilities that serve company-wide use cases. A core part of the role is shaping data governance, quality, and ownership while mentoring teammates. This role offers impact across a fast-growing, mission-driven data team.

- Own architecture, reliability, and long-term health of the end-to-end data platform (GKE, ingestion, orchestration, transformation)
- Define and maintain the data platform roadmap with clear short- and long-term investments
- Collaborate with data science, analytics, product and software engineers to translate requirements into platform capabilities
- Set and enforce data governance, access controls, data quality, and ownership standards
- Manage and develop a mid-level data engineer; promote technical capability across the team via code reviews and documentation
- Extensive hands-on experience in data or analytics engineering with end-to-end platform ownership
- Experience designing/operating production data platforms on cloud infra, orchestration, ingestion, and SQL transformation
- Proficiency with GCP, BigQuery, Terraform, Kubernetes, Dagster, dlt, dbt (or equivalents) and ability to justify trade-offs
- Ability to make architecture decisions involving multiple teams/domains and document them
- Track record of setting technical standards in Python, SQL, and infrastructure code
- Experience scoping ambiguous technical problems and defining what needs to be built
