About the Role:
As the Staff Data Scientist for Monetization, you will be the senior-most data science voice across our subscriptions, ads, and growth businesses, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Finance, and Marketing to shape how Quizlet grows and monetizes its learner base. You will bring together insights across pricing, paywall, and ad-revenue data, enabling you to identify new high-value opportunities, run and scale a rigorous experimentation program, recommend data-driven revenue decisions, define the key metrics the business is run on, and present quantitative research directly to company leadership. Beyond your own analysis, you will set the technical bar and mentor other data scientists working across the monetization domain.

Build and scale the experimentation program for pricing, paywall, and checkout tests -- from inception through measurement, analysis, and synthesized recommendation -- and ensure every test has a clear, timely readout
Own the analytics behind ad monetization decisions, including the pipelines and reconciliation that turn raw ad-server and vendor data into the revenue numbers Finance closes the books with
Apply causal inference to growth and marketing initiatives that can’t be A/B tested, and champion rigorous measurement wherever growth investments are made
Set analytical frameworks, metric definitions, and measurement standards that other data scientists and cross-functional partners build on
Act as the connective tissue between Product, Engineering, Design, Finance, and Marketing on monetization strategy, translating research into concrete recommendations for company leadership
Mentor and level up other data scientists working across the monetization domain, and drive maturity and excellence in how we measure the success of the business
What you bring to the table:
6+ years of experience in data science at a consumer internet or subscription/ads-driven company, including demonstrated Staff-level scope and impact
Deep experience with A/B testing and pricing/paywall experimentation, and using statistical techniques for modeling and predicting user and revenue behavior
Proven track record owning monetization strategy (subscriptions, ads, or growth) end-to-end, from analysis to leadership recommendation
Experience owning resilient ETLs, dashboards, and revenue-reconciliation pipelines that the business relies on to close the books
Advanced SQL skills (window functions, sub-queries, etc.) and comfort partnering directly with Data Engineering on pipeline design
Track record of setting analytical standards and mentoring other data scientists across a team or org
Strong communication skills: able to synthesize, visualize, and present complex revenue and experimentation findings to executive leadership
Bonus points if you have:
Experience with dbt
