Staff Data Scientist
You will lead the Platform Data team to build a robust, scalable, and resilient data platform serving all portfolio applications. You will collaborate with solution teams, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver cloud-based data platforms and solutions, making key decisions on design, architecture, and delivery of systems. You'll stay on top of tech trends, experiment with new technologies, and share your knowledge through mentoring and participating in technology communities. As a coach and mentor, you'll help grow your team's skills while driving agile development and analytical methodologies daily. You'll continuously improve operations, processes, and technology choices, and interact with your team, customers, and peers to improve cross-department processes. You'll engage in concept discussions and propose technology solutions to meet business objectives, working with multi-functional project teams on solution architecture. You'll ensure all work meets quality, operational, and architectural standards, and participate in the team's you-build-it-you-run-it model, including on-call pager rotation.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Platform Data team to build a robust, scalable and resilient data platform serving all portfolio applications
- Collaborate with solution teams, product managers, and deliver robust cloud-based Data platform and solutions
- Make decisions on the solution and the design, architecture, and delivery of systems
- Stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal and external technology communities, mentor engineering community members, and evaluate technical design and code
- Coach and mentor your team and grow them in their skills
- Drive agile development and analytical methodologies every day
- Continuously improve the operations, processes, methodologies, technology choices, and practices of the team
- Interact with your team, customers, and peers to share information and improve cross-department processes
- Ensure transparency and partnership between engineers and business partners
- Engage in concept discussions and propose technology solutions to meet business objectives and influence decisions
- Work with multi-functional project teams on solution architecture options for design
- Ensure all work meets quality, operational, and architectural standards needed for organizational success
- Participate in the team's you-build-it-you-run-it model, including on-call pager rotation
Requirements
- Leadership acumen
- Strong aptitude with software development lifecycle and engineering excellence processes, Agile methodologies, and ability to project manage moderately sized projects
- Deep data engineering experience in complex distributed systems
- Strong technical acumen for owning a technical domain
- Hands-on approach and readiness to deep dive into code details with the team
- Strong communication, coordination and influencing skills
- Expertise in automation with ETL process, data movement with data medallion architecture
- Deep knowledge and experience with Databricks, SQL, Python, PowerShell, C#/.NET, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Data Lake/Lakehouse, Qlik, Zoho Analytics, Azure PaaS services
- Expertise with Izenda, SSRS and AWS Data Services a bonus
