Staff Equipment Engineer
Summary
Maintains and optimizes semiconductor test equipment (testers, handlers, probers) to ensure production readiness and uptime for Marvell’s chip designs.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily laboratory setup activities to support engineering characterization, qualification, and production readiness requirements.
- Own equipment operational readiness for semiconductor test platforms, handlers, probers, and supporting hardware.
- Develop, create, optimize, and maintain equipment recipes, setup configurations, and operating procedures.
- Support installation, qualification, conversion, calibration, and release of new equipment and hardware.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis on tester, handler, prober, and interface-related issues.
- Collaborate with Product and Test Engineering teams to support debug activities, test development, and manufacturing releases.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to improve equipment reliability, stability, and uptime.
- Work closely with equipment suppliers and vendors on maintenance, upgrades, repairs, and technical escalations.
- Develop and maintain documentation, setup standards, and best practices to improve operational efficiency.
- Guide technicians and junior engineers on equipment operation, troubleshooting methodologies, and laboratory best practices.
- Support equipment utilization tracking, capacity planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Generate technical reports and management updates related to equipment performance, readiness, and operational metrics.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related technical discipline.
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in semiconductor test, equipment engineering, laboratory operations, or related fields.
- Strong hands-on experience on at least 2 of the following areas - V93k Advantest test platforms, Ultraflex Teradyne test platforms, Test handlers (ex: Hontech, Cohu, ASMPT, etc.). Wafer probers (ex: TEL, TSK, Opus, etc.)
- Experience creating and optimizing equipment recipes, setup configurations, and test support processes.
- Strong troubleshooting skills involving testers, handlers, probers, interfaces, and supporting hardware.
- Experience performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to improve equipment stability and uptime.
- Good understanding of preventive maintenance, calibration, correlation, qualification, and production release processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively across global and cross-functional teams.
- Self-motivated, fast learner, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and stakeholder management skills.
