Role Overview

The Backend Engineer manages the interchange of data between the server and users, focusing on server-side logic, performance, and integration with front-end.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable backend systems that support web and application services.
• Implement and manage server-side logic, ensuring high performance, reliability, and responsiveness to frontend requests.
• Design, build, and maintain databases and data models, including schema design, optimization, and data integrity.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs to support frontend and third‑party integrations.
• Collaborate closely with frontend engineers to ensure seamless integration between frontend and backend components.
• Ensure application security, data protection, and access control, following secure coding and compliance best practices.
• Optimize backend services for performance, scalability, and stability, including monitoring and tuning.
• Participate in code reviews, providing technical guidance and ensuring adherence to engineering standards.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve backend issues, including production incidents and performance bottlenecks.
• Work with DevOps and system administrators to support deployments, infrastructure, and service reliability.
• Collaborate with QA teams to support testing, bug fixing, and release readiness.
• Evaluate and integrate third‑party services, tools, and APIs as needed.
• Contribute to backend architecture decisions, technical improvements, and long‑term system design.
• Stay up to date with backend technologies, frameworks, and industry best practices, and proactively suggest enhancements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proficient knowledge of a backend programming language such as Node.js, Go, or Java.
• Proficient understanding of databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
• Understanding of accessibility and security compliance.
• Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills to address complex technical challenges.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast‑paced work environment.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure the backend of applications run smoothly.
• Self‑motivated with a desire to continually learn and improve skills.

Technical Skills

• Familiarity with server‑side frameworks such as Express.js, NestJS, Echo, Spring Boot.
• Proficiency in working with relational (SQL) and non‑relational (NoSQL) databases.
• Understanding of RESTful API design and development.
• Experience with server‑side performance tuning.
• Knowledge of containerization and virtualization technologies.
• Familiarity with secure coding practices and authentication/authorization protocols.
