Staff Product Designer

NewBe an early applicant

Summary

Staff Product Designer who owns end-to-end design of the core B2B SaaS grant-management platform — data, permissions, integrations, workflows, and enterprise experiences. Leads greenfield 0-to-1 initiatives, conducts user research, establishes design-system foundations, and mentors designers, applying AI tools for discovery and prototyping.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Product Designer based in the United States.

This is a high-impact design leadership role focused on shaping the foundational systems behind a rapidly evolving B2B SaaS product.
You’ll own the design of a core platform spanning data, permissions, integrations, workflows, and enterprise experiences.
Rather than receiving fully defined specifications, you’ll identify problems, frame opportunities, and establish product direction from the ground up.
Your decisions will influence interaction patterns and system foundations that other product teams and designers build upon.
You’ll combine deep user research, systems thinking, product strategy, and hands-on design to solve complex customer problems.
The environment is highly collaborative and startup-oriented, with significant autonomy and room to introduce structure where needed.
You’ll also raise the design quality across the organization by influencing cross-functional leaders and coaching fellow designers.

Accountabilities

  • Own end-to-end product design for the core platform across platform, core workflows, and enterprise experiences, from discovery and research through launch and iteration.
  • Define scalable data relationships, permission models, integration surfaces, and interaction patterns that support a consistent product experience across workflows.
  • Establish design system foundations and reusable patterns that can be adopted by other product areas and design teams.
  • Design connections between product areas so that workflows, data, and functionality work together as an integrated system.
  • Lead genuinely greenfield initiatives by defining the problem, writing the design brief, shaping roadmap direction with Product, and determining how to sequence work for rapid learning.
  • Shape experiences for tasks, reporting, integrations, and other workflows across the full grant-management lifecycle.
  • Conduct user research end to end, including participant recruitment, interviews, synthesis, and translating ambiguous needs into clear product direction.
  • Bring a strong design point of view to product discussions, challenge assumptions when necessary, and advocate for customer needs.
  • Align Product, Engineering, GTM, and other stakeholders around product direction and design decisions.
  • Raise the quality bar across the design organization through thoughtful critique, collaboration, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Explore and apply AI-enabled design and prototyping approaches to accelerate product discovery and communicate concepts effectively to engineering teams.
  • Requirements

    • 10+ years of product design experience, including meaningful experience at Staff or Principal level and ownership of complete product domains rather than individual features.
    • Proven experience owning the design of a platform or core product area within complex B2B or enterprise SaaS environments, including data models, permissions, integration surfaces, and reusable patterns.
    • Demonstrated ability to ship net-new products and features alongside foundational platform work, including genuine 0-to-1 initiatives where you helped define the opportunity.
    • Deep end-to-end user research experience, from planning and participant recruitment through interviews, synthesis, and incorporation of insights into product decisions.
    • Experience designing AI-powered or agentic product experiences.
    • Strong systems-thinking capabilities and the ability to understand how individual product decisions affect broader workflows and interconnected product areas.
    • Excellent product judgment, problem-solving skills, and comfort making decisions with incomplete information.
    • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to align technical and non-technical stakeholders around a clear product direction.
    • Experience defining and establishing design-system patterns is preferred.
    • Experience using AI tools for prototyping, such as creating working prototypes with tools like Claude or Cursor, is a plus.
    • Exposure to compliance, data integrity, or workflow-intensive products is advantageous.
    • Startup experience and the ability to create structure within lightweight processes are desirable.
    • Experience mentoring or coaching other designers is a plus.
    • Familiarity with nonprofits, grant management, or the broader social-impact sector is beneficial.
    • Benefits

      • $200,000–$230,000 USD target salary for U.S.-based candidates, plus equity.
      • Final U.S. compensation determined by experience, skills, scope of responsibility, interview performance, and geographic location.
      • Canada-based compensation varies by province and is shared during the recruiting process.
      • 100% employer-covered health, dental, and vision insurance for employees.
      • 50% coverage for eligible dependents.
      • Generous paid time off, including parental leave.
      • 401(k) retirement plan.
      • Company-provided laptop and home-office stipend.
      • Bi-annual company retreats.
      • Remote work environment.
      • Opportunities for continued growth and new challenges within a rapidly evolving organization.
      • Inclusive workplace committed to equal opportunity and accessibility.
