Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital (Truman VA). The incumbent serves as an integrated clinician and member of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Team, serving Veterans with complex physical and psychiatric co-morbidities. Truman VA Medical Center is a level 1C Medical Center, which provides both outpatient medical and mental health services at the main facility and at each of the nine Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). Duties may include: Utilizes appropriate therapeutic techniques or combinations of techniques to provide Evidence-Based and Recovery-Oriented treatment to Veterans with complex mental health and chronic pain needs within outpatient and inpatient medical settings. The incumbent provides the full range of therapeutic interventions, including education, individual and/or family psychotherapy, and group psychotherapy to patients, family members, and significant others, as clinically indicated. Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan of care for an assigned caseload of patients, including prompt completion of clinical reminders. The incumbent formulates a mutually agreed upon treatment plan, which includes measurable goals, objectives, and treatment methods based upon the psychological assessment. The treatment plan is used to direct a course of treatment, is individualized to include patient preferences, and reflects a multidisciplinary approach to care (as clinically indicated). The plan is updated annually or more frequently if there is a change in the patient's condition or needs. The incumbent utilizes the Federal Electronic Health Record and any other electronic software assigned by the Supervisor to document treatment planning and progress. Treatment plan documentation complies with the documentation and timeliness standards established by the VA Medical Center and The Joint Commission. Functions independently as a member of the Truman VA Medical Staff, with full clinical privileges. The Staff Psychologist assumes complete professional responsibility for his/her clinical assessment findings, patient care decisions, and documentation. Regularly attends and actively participates in relevant Team meetings. Incumbent also attends and participates in administrative and informational meetings held by the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service Line, Behavioral Health Service Line Chief (or designee) and facility Director. The incumbent regularly attends Psychology Service staff meetings, Medical Staff meetings, and complies with Psychology Service peer review procedures. The incumbent may also participate in Behavioral Health and/or hospital committees or work groups, as assigned. May provide clinical supervision and instruction for psychology practicum students, predoctoral interns, and/or post-doctoral fellows, as assigned. May serve as a consultant to other staff members on ongoing research projects and may collaborate in carrying out interdisciplinary research, as appropriate.
