Staff Psychologist (Neuropsychologist)

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Neuropsychological duties include but not limited to: GS-13: Advanced Assessment & Intervention Conducts comprehensive, complex neuropsychological evaluations for a wide spectrum of neurological and psychiatric conditions. Selects, administers, interprets, and integrates advanced neuropsychological tests with full professional autonomy. Provides in-depth feedback, diagnostic clarification, and detailed treatment recommendations to Veterans, caregivers, and providers. Develops and delivers cognitive rehabilitation strategies and evidence-based interventions when indicated. Consultation, Team Leadership & Collaboration Serves as a subject matter expert for cognitive functioning within interdisciplinary teams. Provides high-level consultation to medical providers, mental health clinicians, rehabilitation teams, and care coordinators. Advises on differential diagnosis, capacity issues, functional implications, and treatment planning. Program Development & Quality Improvement Leads or contributes significantly to quality improvement initiatives, program evaluation, and clinical workflow optimization in neuropsychology or related services. May oversee testing protocols, materials, test security, and standard operating procedures for neuropsychological assessment services. Teaching, Training & Supervision Provides supervision, consultation, and training to psychology trainees, technicians, and interdisciplinary colleagues. Contributes to continuing education and professional development within the service. Documentation & Compliance Produces high-level integrated reports that synthesize complex data and support diagnostic accuracy and evidence-based care. Adheres to all professional, ethical, and regulatory standards. GS-12: Assessment & Intervention Conducts comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations for a wide range of neurological, psychiatric, and medical conditions. Selects, administers, and scores tests appropriate to referral questions with moderate autonomy. Interprets cognitive and psychological data under general supervisory oversight. Provides individualized feedback sessions, psychoeducation, and recommendations to Veterans, families, and providers. Assists in cognitive rehabilitation, compensation strategy training, and behavioral interventions where appropriate. Consultation & Collaboration Provides consultative support to interdisciplinary teams regarding cognitive functioning, diagnosis, and treatment planning. Participates in multidisciplinary case discussions and makes recommendations to medical, mental health, and rehabilitation providers. Documentation & Compliance Produces integrated neuropsychological reports that synthesize test data, behavioral observations, and collateral information. Ensures documentation meets accreditation standards and professional ethical requirements. Program & Professional Activities Maintains competency through continuing education in neuropsychology and related evidence-based practices. GS-11: Serves as an entry-level clinical psychologist functioning under close supervision while developing foundational competencies in neuropsychological assessment and intervention. Provides supervised assessment, treatment planning, cognitive screening, and clinical support for Veterans with neurological, medical, and psychiatric conditions.
