Staff Quality Engineer
Responsibilities
Quality Standards and Specifications
· Define, communicate, and maintain Skyworks quality standards and expectations for suppliers.
· Work closely with suppliers to ensure adherence to applicable quality standards and specifications.
· Monitor changes in industry regulations and update supplier quality requirements as needed.
· Maintain strong working knowledge of IATF, AIAG Core Tools, ISO requirements, and other applicable quality management standards.
Supplier Evaluation and Selection
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and evaluate potential suppliers.
· Assess supplier capabilities, quality systems, and performance history as part of the Skyworks Supplier Development Review process.
Supplier Development and Performance Management
· Assist suppliers in implementing quality improvement initiatives, including Zero Defects and Clean Launch programs.
· Lead supplier audits to evaluate manufacturing processes, quality systems, and control measures.
· Provide guidance on process enhancements, best practices, and continuous improvement opportunities.
· Review PPM, yield, and SPC trends, especially for critical part numbers.
· Review critical-to-quality inputs and outputs on a regular basis.
· Establish key performance indicators for supplier quality and regularly track supplier performance against those KPIs.
· Support supplier change management reviews and related risk mitigation activities.
Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving
· Investigate and resolve supplier non-conformances and quality escapes using industry and Skyworks problem-solving tools and practices, including DMAIC, 8D, and FMEA.
· Drive robust root cause analysis, corrective actions, preventive actions, and mistake-proofing initiatives.
· Select appropriate sampling plans to support inspection and disposition decisions.
· Conduct risk assessments, including reliability considerations, for material disposition.
· Apply expert knowledge of 8D methodology to ensure effective containment, root cause identification, and corrective action closure.
Required Experience and Skills
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
· More than 10 years of experience in laminate package and/or leadframe package manufacturing processes and quality control.
· Strong analytical mindset with expert knowledge of problem-solving tools such as FMEA and 8D.
· Demonstrated ability to drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions with suppliers.
· Persistent, hands-on mindset with the ability to drive issues to closure.
· Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
· Strong leadership capability and knowledge of emerging packaging trends and technologies.
· Strong language skills; knowledge of a third language is a plus.
