Staff Silicon Applications Engineer

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Application Engineer to enable our customers to achieve exceptional performance and power efficiency with the Arm AGI CPU platform and other Arm SoC products!

This is customer-facing Applications Engineering role and offers an outstanding opportunity to work closely with partners and internal engineering teams. Contributing to the successful bring-up, board-level validation, laboratory debug and performance optimization of Arm-based server platforms

In addition, through Arm’s SoC programs we are generating a body of knowledge and experience that can be re-purposed to help our customers de-risk and shorten their own development cycles!

Are you looking to solve complex customer challenges? The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background that includes a deep understanding of microelectronics and silicon systems, practical hands-on lab experience and excellent communication & interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

This position will be based at Arm’s Taipei office and requires collaborating across Arm’s Business Units, Solutions Engineering, Quality and Partner Enablement teams to provide support, education and guidance to global partners. Especially in the areas of high-speed interfaces and electrical performance at the board level.

  • Review and advise on PCB board design schematics, layouts and package interfaces.
  • Provide support for customer high-speed interface issues.
  • Support board-level electrical characterisation and interface validation and perform hands-on measurements using laboratory instrumentation.
  • Driving multi-functional collaboration and issue resolution in our global engineering environment spanning the complete system: silicon, package, PCB.
  • Developing and delivering workshop, app notes and white papers.

Required Skills and Experience :

  • Master's Degree or equivalent in an Electrical/Electronic or Computer Engineering subject.
  • Multiple years in semiconductor, server hardware, or platform development.
  • Strong understanding of DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, SerDes & UCIe.
  • Knowledge of SI/PI, S-parameters, eye diagrams and channel analysis.
  • Recent experience with oscilloscopes, logic analysers and protocol analysers in hands-on laboratory debug situations
  • Proven ability to work independently with no requirement for day-to-day management.
  • Proficient spoken and written English. Additional languages are a plus.

“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience :

  • Cadence Sigrity, Ansys HFSS/SIwave. environment
  • IBIS and package modelling.
  • PDN analysis.
  • Cadence Allegro.
  • Linux/Bash, Python.
  • Experience of AI usage in an engineering environment.
