Staff Software Development Engineer in Test

Job Overview: The R&D Department is made up of different disciplines including software and database engineers, quality, technical implementation. R&D designs and develops requested product features, fixes bugs within our platform, provides technical analysis and estimation, ensures successful integration installations, manages and monitors the health of our platform, and develops automation and tooling for efficient and reliable software development processes. R&D works cross-functionally with many other departments in the organization as a team to fulfill Findhelp’s mission of connecting all people in need and the programs that serve them with dignity and ease.

We are looking for a software development engineer in test to monitor and improve the quality of our operational processes and outputs. The SDET's responsibilities include designing quality standards, inspecting materials, equipment, processes, and products, developing quality control systems, and determining corrective actions. You will also work with managers and supervisors to implement quality measures.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Ensure products, features, and processes meet established quality standards by identifying gaps and risks.
• Develop corrective measures and implement quality control systems and standards.
• Conduct inspections and testing of materials, equipment, processes, and software to ensure quality specifications are met.
• Monitor, analyze, and report on quality performance metrics for your team or functional area.
• Collaborate with product, development, and operations teams to develop and implement process improvements.
• Design, implement, and maintain automated test cases and frameworks to improve test coverage, reliability, and efficiency.
• Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of broader test automation frameworks.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve product or process issues.
• Review codes, specifications, and workflows to ensure compliance with internal standards and safety regulations.
• Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of test automation frameworks, focusing on reliability and efficiency.
• Provide guidance to junior team members when needed.

Qualifications / Traits:

• 4–5+ years of experience in software development quality engineering, quality assurance, or a related role.
• Highly detail-oriented; you naturally notice gaps others might miss.
• Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining automated test cases.
• Entrepreneurial mindset: adaptable to change, proactive in creating solutions rather than just following established processes.
• Team player with discipline: collaborates effectively while staying focused on delivering results.
• Fluency with multiple types of web application testing (smoke, functional, integration, API, performance, etc.).
• Experience coding and using QA software tools and processes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
