Position Summary
The Staff Software Engineer will provide technical leadership across teams by designing and evolving large-scale systems and architectures for scalability, reliability, and maintainability. This role will shape technical strategy, influence roadmap decisions, drive modernization and reliability initiatives, and lead the adoption of AI-assisted development practices that improve engineering velocity, product quality, and business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and evolution of large-scale systems and architectures to support long-term scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Define and guide technical vision and strategy across teams, aligning engineering efforts with long-term product and organizational goals.
- Partner with engineering and product leadership to shape technical priorities and influence roadmap decisions.
- Influence technical direction across multiple teams through architecture, design patterns, code reviews, and technical best practices.
- Drive resolution of complex technical issues, root cause analysis, observability improvements, and systemic reliability initiatives.
- Lead technical-debt reduction and modernization efforts, including re-platforming strategies and execution across teams.
- Lead adoption of AI-assisted development practices and identify opportunities to improve engineering velocity, product quality, and measurable business outcomes.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship while collaborating with cross-functional teams including Technical Support, QA, Design, Documentation, and Product Management.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated technical leadership across complex, cross-team initiatives.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and industry-standard design patterns and practices.
- Deep experience designing and evolving large-scale distributed, high-performance systems and architectures.
- Strong hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating production applications on AWS, GCP, or Azure, with knowledge of cloud architecture and security best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with .NET full-stack and API development across frontend and backend layers.
- Proficiency in one or more of Rust, C#, and JavaScript.
- Experience with distributed and microservices-based architectures, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Experience with cloud-native infrastructure, serverless architectures, managed Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or Bicep, and cost-aware resource design.
- Experience with modern authentication and authorization mechanisms such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and SAML.
- Strong experience with testing strategies, CI/CD, observability, monitoring, incident response, and reliability engineering at scale.
- Experience with secure coding practices, threat modeling, vulnerability remediation, and relational/non-relational data stores.
