As a Staff Software Engineer you are a technical expert who drives and contributes to the team's deliveries. Building upon a solid foundation as senior software engineer in Kindred, the Staff Software Engineer is a role model to the team and natural go-to person for technical matters. In addition to accountabilities of senior software engineers, staff software engineers add the following.
Key accountabilities
Ensuring that technical debt, performance, quality, security etc., are addressed in the right way
Ensuring technical decisions are taken within the team
Focused on continuous improvement
Proactively identifying blockers and utilizing the whole team to solve them
Mentoring team members with technical governance in mind
Sharing knowledge and solutions cross teams
Challenges and encourages team to solve complex problems
Leads by example
Champions coding standards and best practices across all relevant areas e.g. security, performance, monitoring, scalability
Understands the technical strategy and drives it towards the team, proposing and implementing solutions to improve and futureproof components
Skills, knowledge and experience:
Strong software design and coding skills
Solid problem solving and debugging skills
Experienced in working in agile teams, challenging requirements to develop MVP
Expert in security, performance, monitoring, scalability and best practices in each of these areas
Ability to understand the business area, team architecture and systems, and to be able to create solutions for business problems
Strong drive for continuous improvement taking the team forward
Good communication skills to be the go-to person for the team and to keep stakeholders updated
