Staff Software Engineer - Authentication & Authorization

Open 35d

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Authentication and Authorization platform team, you'll help shape how identity works across a growing portfolio of payment, custody, and liquidity products. You'll bring together products that have grown up using different identity providers and protocols into a unified, consistent experience, while building the fine-grained authorization primitives that teams rely on every day. AI tooling is core to how the team works day-to-day, including coding assistants, LLM-based workflows, and agentic tools across design, development, and operations, so you should already use these fluently.

Responsibilities

  • Set the technical direction for the identity platform, including authentication flows, federation across multiple identity providers, and fine-grained authorization
  • Lead the design and delivery of a unified identity experience across the product portfolio
  • Build and operate platform services on Kubernetes, with a focus on reliability, observability, and secure secret management
  • Partner with security, compliance, and product teams to translate regulatory requirements into platform capabilities
  • Write clear technical proposals and contribute to architecture discussions across the engineering org
  • Mentor engineers through code review, design feedback, and collaboration

Requirements

  • Backend engineering experience in Golang or Java, including building and operating production applications within Kubernetes environments
  • Experience designing or contributing to identity systems, ideally in a multi-tenant or federated context
  • Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants and LLM-based tools as part of day-to-day engineering workflow
  • Experience collaborating across teams and writing design documents that build alignment
  • Familiarity with modern authentication protocols such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and SAML, and how they behave in production (nice to have)
  • Experience with policy-as-code approaches to authorization (attribute-based, relationship-based, or hybrid) (nice to have)

Benefits

  • Professional development budget
  • In-office collaboration flexibility (10+ days a month)
  • Bi-weekly all-company meeting with Leadership Team
  • Team offsites, team bonding activities, happy hours
  • Competitive bonuses and equity
  • Competitive benefits covering physical and mental healthcare, retirement, family forming, and family support
  • Employee giving match
  • Mobile phone stipend
  • R&R days
  • Generous wellness reimbursement and weekly onsite & virtual programming
  • Generous vacation policy
  • Industry-leading parental leave policies
  • Family planning benefits
