Staff Software Engineer - Banking and Money Movement
You will lead the architecture, design, and end-to-end delivery of complex banking and money movement systems. You will own major technical initiatives, solve ambiguous technical challenges, improve scalability and performance, mentor engineers, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, contribute to technical roadmaps, and participate in on-call coverage.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and architecture of large-scale, complex systems and components
- Own major technical initiatives and provide direction to teams
- Drive architectural improvements for scalability, performance, and maintainability
- Mentor and guide engineers
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering stakeholders to deliver solutions
- Independently design and implement high-impact features and systems
- Champion engineering best practices and process improvements
- Advocate for clean, efficient code aligned with the architectural vision
- Set the technical vision and long-term roadmap for your product area
- Participate in on-call coverage
Requirements
- 8+ years of backend engineering experience
- 3+ years of experience with payments or FinTech
- Experience leading technical projects and teams
- Expertise in backend technologies such as Java or Python
- Experience with relational databases such as MySQL, Postgres, Microsoft SQL Server, or Oracle
- Experience with web services, microservices, and distributed systems
- Experience with large-scale, high-performance, reliable systems
- Experience designing, building, and scaling maintainable systems
- Experience creating and maintaining technical roadmaps
- Communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience mentoring less-experienced engineers
