Summary
Designs and builds scalable cloud-native systems for Google’s AI-powered API management platform, focusing on AI agent integration, distributed infrastructure, and mentoring engineers to enhance API discoverability and automation across hybrid/multi-cloud environments.

As Google Cloud's premier API management suite, we empower enterprises to govern and monetize their digital ecosystem across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.The Google Cloud AI Research team addresses AI challenges motivated by Google Cloud’s mission of bringing AI to tech, healthcare, finance, retail and many other industries. We work on a range of unique problems focused on research topics that maximize scientific and real-world impact, aiming to push the state-of-the-art in AI and share findings with the broader research community. We also collaborate with product teams to bring innovations to real-world impact that benefits our customers.
- Lead the design and coding of core features that transform the Hub into a definitive repository for APIs, Model Context Protocol (MCP) Servers, and Agents.
- Build highly scalable, distributed systems that automate asset discovery through deep integrations with various API Gateways and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Agent Cloud.
- Develop the interfaces and schemas required to make organizational assets available and "understandable" for consumption by AI Agents.
- Drive high engineering standards across the team through rigorous design reviews, code reviews, and the implementation of best practices in cloud-native development.
- Act as a technical lead and mentor for junior and mid-level engineers, helping to solve complex technical bottlenecks and improve system reliability.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, C/C++ or Python.
- Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI, Agentic AI frameworks and RAG systems.
- Experience in software development, and designing, implementing distributed systems or cloud-native infrastructure.
Preferred qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in testing or launching products, with 3 years of experience in software architecture.
- Ability to take ambiguous product requirements and translate them into scalable technical architectures.
