Staff Software Engineer - Contract

Experienced Senior Software Engineer with expertise in Java 2Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) to design, develop, implement, and support enterprise applications. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, contribute to solution design, and deliver secure, scalable, and high-quality software solutions while ensuring compliance with software engineering standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of enterprise applications using J2EE technologies.
• Analyse business and technical requirements and translate them into scalable application architecture and technical solutions.
• Develop high-quality, maintainable, and reusable code in accordance with coding standards and development best practices.
• Perform technical analysis, solution design, effort estimation, and impact assessments for new initiatives and system enhancements.
• Develop and execute unit tests and support integration testing, system testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), deployment, and post-production support.
• Investigate and resolve complex application defects, production incidents, and performanceissues through root cause analysis.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure compliance with architecture standards, security policies, and software quality requirements.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Solution Architects, QA teams, DevOps engineers, and project stakeholders throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including solution designs, technical specifications, deployment guides, and operational procedures.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to development team members, promoting knowledge sharing and engineering best practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve application performance, development processes, and operational efficiency.
• Ensure solutions comply with organisational governance, security standards, and enterprise architecture guidelines.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 10+ years of hands-on experience in designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining
• Strong expertise in Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE).
• Experience with Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and Microservices.
• Knowledge of application servers such as WebLogic, JBoss, WebSphere, or Tomcat.
• Strong experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
• Proficiency with Git, Maven/Gradle, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design, design patterns, secure coding, and application performance tuning.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, mentor development teams, and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
