Staff Software Engineer, Frontend

GlossGenius is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Frontend to play a leading technical role in shaping our web platform. The App Platform team enables scalable, consistent, and high-quality engineering by building shared UI frameworks, component libraries, tooling, and release infrastructure. We are embedding AI-powered tooling and practices into our development process to help every team move faster, build better, and scale with confidence.
Responsibilities will include:
- Architect and drive the development of scalable, reusable frontend components and shared libraries for GlossGenius web applications
- Define and lead the long-term technical direction of the web platform, including framework decisions, architecture patterns, and developer experience
- Partner with product managers, designers, and engineering teams to deliver a cohesive, high-quality web experience
- Set the standard for frontend best practices, including code quality, accessibility, performance optimization, and design system consistency
- Own and drive improvements to frontend tooling, build pipelines, and developer workflows to increase engineering velocity
- Champion the adoption of AI-powered development tools and help establish best practices for leveraging AI effectively and responsibly
- Serve as a technical leader in code reviews, architectural decisions, and cross-functional technical discussions
- Identify systemic problems and proactively implement solutions with broad impact across multiple teams
- Contribute to mobile efforts where applicable, ensuring consistency across web and mobile surfaces
You’re a great fit if you:
- Have 7+ years of professional frontend engineering experience, with a strong focus on web and a track record of leading high-impact technical work
- Possess deep expertise in React and JavaScript, with strong command of modern frontend architecture and patterns
- Are highly proficient in TypeScript, CSS-in-JS, and responsive/adaptive design principles
- Have experience building and evolving component libraries, design systems, or shared UI frameworks at scale
- Demonstrate deep understanding of web performance, including bundle optimization, lazy loading, rendering strategies, and profiling
- Have hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and enthusiasm for using AI to accelerate engineering productivity
- Bring a forward-thinking mindset around AI and can help shape AI-driven practices across the organization
- Work autonomously, driving projects from ambiguous problem statements to production-ready solutions
- Communicate effectively, influencing technical direction and aligning stakeholders across teams
- Familiarity with React Native or cross-platform mobile development is a plus
Total Compensation
The starting base salary for this role in New York, California, and Washington is between $241,000-$284,000 plus target equity and benefits. The base salary offered depends on skills, experience, location, and education.
