Staff Software Engineer (Infrastructure)
Summary
Staff engineer on Félix's SRE team leading developers who build the internal developer platform: Go services, internal tools, and open-source integrations running on Kubernetes and GCP, keeping the fintech's infrastructure reliable, secure, and developer-friendly as it scales.
About Us
About the Role
Responsibilities
- Product Ownership for Developers: Define and drive the vision, roadmap, and success metrics for an internal developer product that makes engineers measurably more productive. Treat developers as customers: gather feedback, prioritize by impact, and track adoption.
- OSS and IDP Integrations: Design, build, and maintain integrations between open-source tools and our Internal Developer Platform (IDP), in Go, so that developers get a consistent, self-service experience instead of stitching tools together themselves.
- Developer Tooling and Automation: Create internal tools, CLIs, services, and automation that remove friction from everyday workflows, such as service scaffolding, environment provisioning, deployments, and day-2 operations.
- Technical Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of developers within SRE, setting technical direction, standards, and priorities for the developer platform.
- Reliability and Observability: Make the platform and the tools built on it observable and resilient, improving incident response and giving developers clear visibility into their services in production.
- Engineering Excellence: Drive best practices in code quality, testing, documentation, and system design, including clear docs and onboarding for the platform itself.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product engineering and leadership to align platform work with business priorities, and to make sure what we build solves real developer problems.
Requirements
- Experience: 8+ years of software engineering experience, with time at a Staff level or in a technical leadership role.
- Golang: Strong, hands-on experience building production systems in Go.
- Kubernetes & Docker: Deep experience designing, deploying, and running containerized applications on Kubernetes.
- GCP: Solid experience with Google Cloud Platform services and cloud-native architecture.
- Leadership: Proven track record of leading and mentoring developers, through architectural guidance, code reviews, and setting technical direction.
- Systems Thinking: Strong knowledge of distributed systems, system design, and reliability.
- Communication: Ability to explain complex technical decisions clearly and drive alignment across teams.
- Additional Skills: Experience with Python, infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform), and fintech or high-scale, regulated environments is a plus.
- These are the applicable requirements, although equivalent competencies in any of the above will also be considered.
