Position Description

ParTech, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our software development team. This role is a hands-on technical leadership position that combines deep engineering expertise with architectural ownership, technical mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will bring strong design thinking, a customer-first mindset, and the ability to lead complex software initiatives end to end.

Why We Need You

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in shaping the technical direction of our products while remaining actively involved in coding and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the technical design and implementation of complex, scalable, and highly maintainable software solutions

• Translate business and technical requirements into robust architectural designs and high-quality code

• Drive best practices in software development, including clean code, design principles, testing, and performance optimization

• Act as a technical authority for the team, guiding decisions around architecture, frameworks, tools, and patterns

• Quickly gain a deep understanding of the product domain and ensure solutions align with customer needs

• Design and evolve highly extensible systems, keeping scalability, security, and reliability in focus

• Analyze and address non-functional requirements (performance, scalability, availability, security, maintainability)

• Collaborate closely with product, QA, DevOps, and other cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality and timely deliveries

• Perform and lead design reviews and code reviews, providing constructive feedback and setting quality standards

• Mentor and coach engineers, supporting their technical and professional growth

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, including critical incidents outside normal business hours when required

• Champion domain-driven design, microservices, and modern architectural practices

• Take ownership of technical initiatives, proof-of-concepts, and continuous improvement efforts

• Maintain strong, collaborative relationships across teams while upholding confidentiality of PAR and customer data

What We’re Looking For

Experience & Education:

• 10–13 years of overall software development experience

• 5+ years of hands-on expertise with C# .NET, including architecture and advanced design

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience

Technical Skills:

• Expert-level experience in C# .NET and backend system design

• Strong expertise in RESTful API design and development

• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, SQL, and database design

• Experience with front-end frameworks/libraries such as React, Angular, Vue.js, Bootstrap

• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD)

• Proven experience with Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and microservices architecture

• Experience designing and working with large-scale, distributed, event-driven systems

• Familiarity with UML modeling (class, sequence, ER, activity, use case diagrams)

• Experience with code quality, security, and coverage tools (e.g., SonarQube, Jacoco)

• Strong experience with unit, integration, and performance testing, and TDD practices

• Experience applying design patterns and architectural principles across systems

• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is a plus

• Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills

Leadership & Behavioral Skills:

• Proven experience acting as a Technical Lead or Staff Engineer on complex projects

• Ability to influence technical decisions across teams without direct authority

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate trade-offs and multiple perspectives

• Pragmatic problem-solver with experience leveraging off-the-shelf tools and frameworks

• Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills

• Self-driven, proactive, and comfortable operating with minimal supervision

• Passion for building next-generation, high-quality software in a fast-paced environment

• Strong alignment with Agile/Scrum development principles and practices
