Staff Software Engineer, Product
Summary
Atmoz is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to build an agentic carbon accounting platform using Go, Python, and AI-assisted development tools. The role involves end-to-end product ownership, from backend architecture and calculation logic to shipping features in a hybrid, Stockholm-based environment.
Do you want to build a product end-to-end in a small, AI-native team, from domain model to shipped feature?
Atmoz is seeking an exceptional Staff Software Engineer to drive product development on our agentic carbon accounting platform end-to-end, from backend architecture and calculation logic to a feature being live with customers.
We build with high leverage: agentic engineering (Claude Code, Codex, Lovable, and similar) is our normal way of working, not an add-on. That means a single engineer here owns more, moves faster, and shapes the product more than in a traditional team.
Why Atmoz?
Atmoz is building an agentic platform for climate data and carbon accounting. We combine the latest technology with real climate expertise to help companies collect data, calculate emissions, and produce climate reporting they can trust.
We are a small team with high ambitions. With us, you get significant responsibility and the opportunity to shape our customers' experience, our product, and how we build it. The role is based at our office in Stockholm (Norrsken House) and the work is hybrid.
About the role
The role's center of gravity is backend: Go, Python, Postgres, GraphQL, API design, domain modeling, and calculation logic. This is where most of our technical complexity lives. Frontend we largely build by prompting Lovable, in close collaboration with product and design; you need to be able to review, debug, and harden TypeScript/React code, but you don't need to be a frontend specialist.
You’ll report directly to our CTO and work closely with our Head of Product, designer and engineering team. No intermediaries, no detailed specs: you drive features from idea to production yourself.
Among other things, you will:
- Drive backend development on our Go/Python/GraphQL platform: API design, domain modeling, calculation logic, and integrations.
- Build and harden the frontend together with product and design, with Lovable as the primary tool.
- Work agent-first across the whole flow (code, documentation, testing) and continuously evolve how we build with AI.
- Work closely with our Principal Engineer on the platform's application architecture.
- Get close to our customers and their problems, and bring what you learn back into the product and the roadmap.
- Contribute across the stack when needed. In a small team there are no lanes.
We think you have
- Typically 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with several years of end-to-end responsibility for backend systems in production.
- Deep backend experience, ideally in Go and Python, and experience designing APIs and domain models for complex business domains.
- Solid understanding of systems design, performance trade-offs, and scalable architecture, plus the judgment to know which of them actually matter for the problem at hand.
- An AI-native way of working: agentic engineering is your default mode, and you can show how your own workflow has changed over the past year.
- Enough TypeScript/React fluency to review and improve generated frontend code.
- Experience independently owning a product surface at a small company, from idea to production.
- Strong product sense: you can work directly with product and design without detailed specs.
- Genuine curiosity about customers and the problems they're trying to solve. You ask why before you build, and you use that understanding to make good calls on your own and to shape the roadmap. You don't need to know carbon accounting already; you do need to want to understand it.
- A bias for shipping: you prioritize making progress and solving real customer problems over building the perfect technical solution, and you know where that trade-off doesn't apply.
- A generalist's instincts: deep on backend but comfortable moving between functions as needs shift.
- Excellent English, spoken and written; Swedish is a plus.
It's a plus if you have
- Founded a company or been an early hire at a startup.
- Production experience with GraphQL.
- Experience with GCP, Kubernetes, or cloud-native infrastructure.
- Worked with climate data, carbon accounting, or adjacent domains.
- Experience with EU data protection (GDPR) in product decisions.
You’ll thrive here if you
- Want real ownership of architecture, code, and outcomes, rather than executing someone else's plan.
- Are low-ego and comfortable both making decisions and doing the work yourself.
- Would rather ship something real this week and iterate than polish something perfect for a month. Progress and customer value first.
- Are rigorous without getting stuck in perfectionism.
- Enjoy talking to customers and understanding their world, not just the technical problem.
- Enjoy a small company where priorities can shift quickly.
- Like taking initiative, working at a high pace, and being challenged by new problems.
- Are curious about the latest developments in AI tooling and platform patterns, and actually put them to use.
We're building with tools that both humans and AI love:
- Frontend: React, Vite
- Backend: Go, Python and PostgreSQL
- Orchestration and ingestion: Dagster, dbt, Airbyte
- DevOps & Tooling: Github Actions, Grafana, OTEL, infra-as-code (OpenTofu)
And always on the lookout for what's next!
We've spent the last nine months rebuilding from the ground up and just launched, so you'll join early enough to shape the conventions and the architecture rather than inherit them.
