Staff Software Engineer

You will join the Architecture team and drive technical leadership across the core platform. You will lead the design and implementation of scalable secure backend systems and evolve core backend platform services including configuration entitlements and shared data platforms. You will set architectural vision work cross-functionally with technical leaders drive adoption of agentic backend service development practices and leverage AI-driven development tools. You will spend about half your time actively contributing to codebases with the rest split between architectural planning and technical leadership and mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable secure backend systems
• Evolve core backend platform services including configuration entitlements and shared data platforms
• Set architectural vision for the core platform aligned with engineering standards and long-term scalability
• Work cross-functionally with technical leaders to solve technical problems and understand product needs
• Refine and drive adoption of agentic backend service development practices
• Leverage AI-driven development tools to enhance team velocity and innovation
• Contribute actively to codebases and provide technical leadership and mentorship

Requirements

• Proven Staff-level or equivalent backend engineering experience with at least 8-10+ years of experience
• Backend platform experience at large-scale D2C or B2B2C companies ideally building for internal engineering audiences
• Familiarity with distributed systems operating large-scale high-volume platforms
• Deep proficiency in Java or Kotlin and experience with the Spring framework
• Familiarity with relational databases and cloud infrastructure with AWS preferred
• Demonstrated success architecting scalable fault-tolerant integrations with external systems
• Strong leadership skills and ability to influence teams across an engineering function
• Interest or experience in AI-based tooling or development acceleration
