Summary
Staff SRE engineer on Google Cloud's billing team, owning the reliability, accuracy, and timeliness of GCP billing systems and mission-critical APIs. Day-to-day involves coding, troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems, automation, capacity planning, and influencing service architecture.
In this role, you will focus on the reliability, accuracy, and timeliness of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) billing systems and mission-critical APIs. Our charter is expanding to include more Google Cloud Billing and Payment (GCBP) services while driving AI adoption and tooling improvements across Google Cloud.
Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
US: $207000 - $300000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

- Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of services—from inception and design, through to deployment, operation, and refinement.
- Manage availability, latency, scalability, and efficiency of Google services by engineering reliability into software and systems.
- Respond to and resolve emergent service problems; write software and build automation to prevent problem recurrence.
- Participate in service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis, and system tuning.
- Review and influence ongoing design, architecture, standards, and methods for operating services and systems.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
- 3 years of experience leading projects.
- Experience analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with multiple stakeholders and work effectively with global teams.
