Description
We are seeking a highly capable Staff Software Engineer to lead development of Windows-based software tools used to evaluate, configure, tune, debug, and demonstrate advanced automotive infotainment radio and audio solutions. This role is centered on C# / .NET / WPF desktop application development and operates at the intersection of embedded systems, customer enablement, and product bring-up.
The engineer in this role will own and evolve user-facing tools such as our Advanced Audio GUI and related system-configuration/tooling flows that support Si479xx, Si469xx, and next-generation automotive radio and audio platforms. The role is critical because this engineer is often among the first to build a real-time operational software environment around new firmware and hardware, enabling both internal teams and external customers to use new capabilities quickly and effectively.
Responsibilities
- Lead design, development, maintenance, and release of Windows desktop GUI tools using C#, .NET, and WPF.
- Develop and support tools used for initialization, configuration, tuning, visualization, export, automation, and debug of embedded automotive radio/audio products.
- Support both legacy platforms (including Si479xx and Si469xx families) and new hardware/software platforms requiring significant tool evolution.
- Translate embedded firmware and hardware capability into usable customer and internal workflows, including support for:
- AM/FM/HD Radio/DAB and related digital-radio features
- Audio post-processing and audio-topology configuration
- System configuration and flexible hardware definitions
- Import/export/state-management artifacts used in customer systems
- Work closely with firmware, DSP, validation, hardware, applications, and product-line teams to align tools with evolving APIs, product roadmaps, and customer priorities.
- Support customer-facing workflows such as evaluation, tuning, field-test support, debug, demos, and issue isolation.
- Contribute to release planning, documentation, Confluence/Jira workflows, issue triage, and technical backlog prioritization.
- Help define tools strategy for next-generation platforms, including how new hardware and firmware should be exposed through GUI and configuration environments.
Required Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- 6+ years of directly relevant experience in software engineering, applications engineering, or technical tools development.
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- C#
- .NET
- WPF
- Windows desktop application development
- Strong understanding of object-oriented software design, maintainable architecture, and debugging in complex codebases.
- Experience developing software that interfaces with embedded hardware or firmware.
- Ability to troubleshoot across the full stack: application software, APIs, embedded behavior, board/hardware interactions, and customer workflows.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with customers and cross-functional internal teams.
- Experience working in fast-moving environments where firmware, APIs, and system requirements evolve over time.
Desired Experience and Skills
- Experience with WPF/MVVM, multithreaded applications, async patterns, and complex UI/workflow design.
- Background in automotive infotainment, radio management, digital radio, or audio processing systems (not required).
- Familiarity with one or more of the following:
- AM/FM/HD Radio/DAB/DRM/CDR
- Audio DSP concepts and audio-topology tools
- Embedded ARM-based systems
- Hardware communication/control paths such as SPI/I2C/UART or similar
- Configuration/export file formats and tooling pipelines
- Test-equipment control or lab automation
- Installer/build/release workflows for Windows applications
- Jira and Confluence
- Experience working with customer evaluation platforms, demo systems, or development/support tools for embedded products.
- The ideal candidate:
- Can move comfortably between desktop GUI engineering and embedded system understanding.
- Enjoys transforming early firmware or hardware capability into a polished, usable tool experience.
- Is practical, structured, and detail-oriented, but also responsive to customer urgency.
- Can balance sustaining legacy products with building tools for next-generation platforms.
- Produces clear documentation, usable workflows, and dependable releases—not just source code.
