Staff Software Engineer

You will define and drive the technical direction for foundational software systems in the Middle East, designing architectures, APIs, and integrations primarily using Go or similar languages. You will lead complex, multi-team initiatives, optimize system performance at scale, resolve systemic issues, and ensure systems meet reliability, scalability, and regulatory requirements. You will establish coding standards, testing practices, and infrastructure coordination frameworks, mentor engineers across levels, and run strategic technical reviews that align software and infrastructure capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Architect and establish foundational software systems using Go or similar languages
• Design and establish event-driven architectures, message queues, and asynchronous processing patterns
• Build and maintain APIs, services, and integrations
• Optimize system performance at scale and identify bottlenecks
• Ensure systems meet reliability, scalability, and regulatory compliance requirements
• Establish coding standards, best practices, and testing methodologies
• Design and implement scalable, maintainable, and performant systems
• Lead complex, multi-team software initiatives from conception to delivery
• Resolve systemic issues that impact the organization
• Establish infrastructure coordination frameworks and coordinate with DevOps and vendors
• Define vendor management strategies and ensure SLAs are met
• Coordinate with cloud providers, data center vendors, and managed service providers
• Mentor engineers across all levels and share organizational knowledge
• Document and communicate architectural decisions and technical guidance
• Own outcomes of strategic initiatives and manage associated risks
• Debug complex issues across multiple systems and implement long-term solutions
• Establish and improve development processes, tooling, and observability practices

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Exceptional technical competency in system design, architecture, and performance optimization
• Expert-level mastery of Go or similar backend languages
• Proven track record building scalable, high-availability applications handling high transaction volumes
• Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design principles
• Extensive experience with event-driven architectures, message queues, pub/sub systems, and asynchronous processing
• Proven ability to independently lead complex, multi-team software initiatives
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and debugging across multiple systems
• Extensive experience with testing methodologies including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
• Deep expertise with cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), including hybrid and multi-cloud architectures
