  • Welcome artists, clients and visiting companies, providing professional backstage support.
  • Assist in the maintenance, care and storage of stage equipment, instruments and backstage spaces.
  • Complete venue checks, show reports and housekeeping inspections to maintain the highest standards.
  • Support the safe loading and unloading of vehicles in accordance with health and safety procedures.
  • Contribute to emergency and evacuation procedures and maintain an up-to-date First Aid qualification.
  • Promote inclusive working practices and support accessible performances and events.

About You

  • You'll have experience working backstage in a concert hall, theatre or similar live events environment and be comfortable working as part of a busy team in a fast-paced setting.
  • Experience supporting live performances, events or productions.
  • Knowledge of orchestral set-ups, stage equipment and contemporary music performance requirements.
  • The ability to interpret stage plans and production information accurately.
  • Good organisational and communication skills, with the confidence to work with artists, clients and colleagues at all levels.
  • An understanding of health and safety requirements within a live performance environment.
  • An interest in music, live events and the performing arts.
  • A flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends and occasional overnight shifts.
  • Physical capability to safely move and lift stage equipment.
  • A First Aid qualification, or willingness to undertake training provided by the Barbican.
  • Experience as a backline technician would be advantageous but is not essential.
