About the Role
An international development company is preparing a multi-year programme strengthening Nigeria's ginger and sesame value chains β covering productivity, climate-smart agriculture, enterprise development, market systems, and last-mile service delivery. Qualified professionals are being identified for potential deployment, subject to project award and funding approval.
The State Team Lead will lead programme implementation within an assigned state, coordinating technical teams, managing stakeholders, and driving private sector engagement to hit performance targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead planning, coordination, and implementation of state activities per approved workplans, budgets, and schedules; ensure targets are met.
- Coordinate technical specialists, field officers, and consultants; monitor progress and resolve bottlenecks.
- Build relationships with government, private sector, producer organizations, financial institutions, and development partners; represent the programme at state-level forums.
- Facilitate partnerships strengthening access to inputs, finance, extension services, and markets.
- Supervise implementation teams for technical and quality standards; work with MERL on data collection for reporting.
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements, safeguarding, and financial procedures; identify and mitigate risks.
- Review state-level reports and workplans; support donor missions, reviews, and audits.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Rural Development, Project Management, Business Administration, or related field (Master's an advantage).
- Minimum 7 years' progressive experience managing agricultural development, enterprise development, or donor-funded programmes.
- Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary teams and multi-stakeholder programs at state/regional level.
- Strong grasp of agricultural value chains, private sector engagement, and market systems approaches.
- Proven experience working with government, development partners, and financial institutions.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills; proficient in MS Office and reporting tools.
- Preferred: multi-state program experience, donor-funded market systems background, PM certification.
