Steam Engineer (Boiler Operations)
Summary
Operate and maintain natural gas and biomass boilers to supply steam for production, ensuring safety and compliance with operational standards.
Job Description:
Boiler Operations & Monitoring
- Operate natural gas and biomass boilers within defined safe operating limits
- Ensure stable and continuous steam supply to meet production demands
- Monitor boiler parameters including ESP, pressure, temperature, water level, and NG consumption
- Adjust boiler output in response to production requirements and load fluctuations
- Troubleshoot pressure and steam supply issues promptly
Maintenance & Compliance
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance of boiler systems
- Support plant shutdown activities and statutory inspections
- Ensure full compliance with WSH, PPE, LOTO, and Permit-to-Work (PTW) requirements
- Maintain safe and orderly boiler house conditions at all times
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of boiler parameters, steam output, CMMS, Wet scrubber, water and NG usage
- Ensure all operational data is complete, accurate, and audit-ready
- Participate actively in audits, safety observations (SOR), and incident reporting
Coordination & Supervision
- Work closely with production teams to coordinate steam demand and supply
- Supervise and manage external contractors working in the boiler area
Job Requirements:
- Diploma in Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of experience in food processing or a related industry
- Mandatory: Valid Steam Engineer Certificate (Grade 1 or Grade 2)
- Proven experience operating Natural Gas Steam Boilers (minimum 5 years)
- Experience handling Biomass Boilers is an added advantage
- Valid forklift driving license is a plus
- Willingness and ability to work 12-hour rotational shifts
